Extract files from Rescue & Recovery DVD

I used to be a happy X61 owner until it was stolen from me recently :( I made a recent backup of my files, but the catch is that I used Lenovo's Rescue and Recovery tool. Given that I no longer have my X61 that that the rescue procedure is intended to restore an entire hard disk image, I am at loss ...

Now if Lenovo were to make an announcement on this issue, and assure customers that they will repair this problem even after the bezel cracks, then you may have a valid point. Do you have a link to any such announcement? People continue to insist that Lenovo is not silent on this issue. Are we usin...

Intel x3100 production drivers with HW accelleration for XP

I just found out over at Notebookreview.com that Intel recently released production drivers for the X3100 integrated graphics adapter that have hardware vertex shaders enabled. This driver version is only compatible with Windows XP for now, but a Vista version should be coming soon. Intel looks pret...

Lenovo has a portable DVD burner that looks only a bit larger than their Ultrabay drives. It looks much more practical than having to lug around an Ultrabase when you need to use an optical drive.

Just received my X61 Tablet. Will blog about it a bit later, it's just that i realized it CAN NOT recognize handwriting for the selected input language which is BAD. I hope there is a plug-in or add-on available. Does anyone know about it?! The only thing I can think of is the additional language p...

I've used the Wenger Synergy backpack for the last couple of years and I love it.
It's spacious, has oodles of zippers and compartments, and it's comfortable to carry.

Best of all, it costs less than $80!

Make sure you have all the necessary drivers and utilities installed. The X61 and X61s device driver matrix should be a good place to locate any driver you may have overlooked after formatting. Lenovo also has an update tool that automatically detects and downloads drivers and utilities for your sys...

Ouch... I experienced the same problem with a T30 I had. The screen would distort in a manner very similar to your laptop and indeed it was a hardware problem: they traced it to a faulty video connector.

Glad you were able to get a new unit without any hassles.

This tutorial has several methods for removing the Windows sticker and dealing with the sticky residue it leaves behind. It's from a Linux user website so you might want to skip the anti-Microsoft introductory paragraph if that's not your particular cup of tea.

I use a Vantec Lapcool (kinda old and not nearly as sleek as the Zalman cooler you mentioned but it does the job) with my T43. It really does lower the temperature. The palm rests are noticeably cooler and more comfortable.

I say go for it.

I agree that most Thinkpad screens leave much to be desired in regards to screen brightness (I've owned an A21m, a T30 and a T43 and none those screens have had a particularly bright screen). Is this also true for the Tablet models? I think I've read some posts here commenting on how the Multiview/M...

I haven't used a 7200 RPM drive in my Thinkpad, but I've read several posts in the forum that say you do get a noticeable performance increase over a 5400 RPM drive.

If cost is not a limitation, I would go for the 7K200.

X61t: XP Tablet Edition or Vista?

I plan to purchase a x61t in a couple of months and I'm having trouble deciding whether to order the laptop with Vista or XP Tablet Edition. I'm mostly worried about battery life and performance. From what I've read in the forum and some reviews, running Vista will result in having a shorter battery...

Re: T61 observations

The system gets VERY VERY hot when in the BIOS setup utility. Once Vista boots and power management kicks in, it's nice and cool, except that the right palm rest gets pretty warm (it's over the hard drive). I made the mistake of using the system on my legs (wearing shorts) while checking out the BI...

Exactly. Even on the Dell site, the M1330 is only listed under home laptops, not even small/medium business, let alone large business. It is clearly not targeted at business users. It actually is listed under Small Business. And I agree with pianowizard. I can't imagine why business users would pas...

Finally, I'm looking at the various X options as well, in particular the SXGA+ tablet, but given the integrated graphics and lack of optical, I'd go as far to say they're less comparable to the M1330 than the T-series is. This is precisely why I suggested comparing the two. I honestly can't figure ...

I'm considering upgrading from a T43 to a T61, but I just learned that Dell released an all-new laptop, the m1330. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the largest capacity battery you can get for a T61 is a 7 cell.

I carry my T43 in a Swiss Army Synergy backpack which I definitely recommend. It can fit a 15" laptop and has plenty of space to hold books, papers, cables, and what have you.

You can also check out their Maxxum backpack which is slightly smaller and less expensive.
