Re: Coreboot on the X210

It's entirely possible to exploit Spectre via in-browser code (tough with Javascript, but certainly possible with WASM). It's not a purely VM attack, if your browser is running on one thread then an attacker can extract information from processes running on the other thread on the same core. First ...

I had enabled all three and both the SD and the fingerprint worked.
register "usb2_ports[2]" = "USB2_PORT_FLEX(OC1)" # FPR
register "usb2_ports[3]" = "USB2_PORT_FLEX(OC1)" # SD
register "usb2_ports[4]" = "USB2_PORT_FLEX(OC1)" # INT
is this correct?

Re: Coreboot on the X210

It really sucks, because newer firmware decreses performance(so it will suck more battery to do same operations). so I've locked intel microcode in package manager to stay at "20171117". It's the last version that will allow using full capabilities of Intel CPUs (a bit less secure, but as laptops t...

Re: Coreboot on the X210

Tried re-building with Tianocore. Finding an interesting problem that I didn't have before: I get no splash screen nor boot menu, but if I hit "Enter" Ubuntu boots correctly (it must be the first menu entry) and the first thing I see is "Ubuntu 19.10" with the loading dots. Building with vga blobs ...

Is the ACPI implementation in these builds "complete"? I have not had any success booting any Windows installs or installers (have tried Windows 7 and 10, SeaBIOS & Tianocore, USB2 and USB3 drives in various combinations). I've read some stuff that Windows requires a strict ACPI implementation, so ...

I'm trying to get libgfxinit working on a NV126A1M-N52 (2880x1920) There are some problems though: 1. Re: X210 embedded controller fixes (was: X210 EC datasheet/better brightness control)

I believe the temperature does have the sudden jumps on the default throttling settings. The used i5/i7 CPU is capable to produce up to three times more power than the X201 cooling system is able to soak and heat up to 100°C in a second. You may want to play with `throttled` settings to find the th...

Re: X210 embedded controller fixes (was: X210 EC datasheet/better brightness control)

No. The EC just reads a temperature and sets PWM. It has nothing to do with throttling. See code: Silly me, of course throttling is done by other means. But nevertheless it's really fishy that sensors jump from 7*->100*C. Something is wrong here, and I don't know what is responsible for this, as ea...

If you have similar output, then you should get 3-4W idle. You may use powertop too. It should show nonzero pc9 percentage. If pc9 is zero and PRS is not enabled... 1. Re: X210 EC datasheet/better brightness control?

I can't call a diode on the battery power input...great. What diode are people talking about. There should not be any diodes in the battery discharge path. If it will be here, then it should be 10A rated and have a heatsink as the laptop drains about 6-7A when CPU is at full turbo, full brightness,...

Re: x210 stock bios with ME disabled in option menu.

That's the problem, when I try to turn it off,
it shows enabled in BIOS after reboot. So I simply can't
disable ME in order to reenable it. And with ME
in this hanging state the boot times are awful.
The only possible solution is to flash a BIOS
with predisabled ME.

Re: Coreboot on the X210

Don't know about the microcode. But I have never applied it before, yes. Still, new build has the same iommu error. You could try and apply the microcode update while using the stock bios or the last working coreboot image and see if that's what's causing the error. And it's not microcode. So it's ...
