I've installed all the updates with software installer. Memory usage is 488Mt/1024Mt (2x512). It doesn't have effect on temperature, bacause processor usage is 0-7% in rest. I think it's all about that the fan can't transfer enough heat from the processor. With full power profile, in 100% cpu usage,...

Can you hear the fan running or feel air circulating thru the vents? Did you try disconnecting the dock? Now the problem appears also without the dock. The fancontrol software tells that in stress the cpu reaches as high as 97 celsius temperature and sometimes this machine just shutdowns suddenly. ...

R52 Thermal problem - 95C in stress

Notebook hardware control program show, that in stress the Pentium 750M is at maximum almost 90' Celsius. This sounds to, a bit too high. The computer is attached in to the dock. Is the dock, the main reason for this high temperature? I cleaned all dust everywhere and even checked under the hood but...

Now when I use the case with my R52, which is a little wider than the R50e, I ripped one line of the sidepadding away, and made with a knife a little hole for the fanhole, and removed one of the soft paddings which was under the computer. So now i suppose the computer can atleast somehow cool itself...

Encrypting Thinkpad's harddrive

Hi I have encrypted few harddrives with compusec, and i was planning to encrypt my R52's harddrive too. So, the question is, how will Thinkpad's own recovery partitions + etc. accept this kind of a trick? No problem? I would be pleased to know, if someone has succesfully encrypted his thinkpad's har...

I was thinking about to made a watercooling element from copper or aluminium sized a laptop, under the laptop. I had a selfmade watercoolingsystem in my previous desktop pc. I'm a little skeptic for those cooling systems with two fans. Aren't they a bit noisy? My R52 doesn't really need any external...

I would like to hear why T43p would have better performance than R52.

I have understood that atm when writing this, the only differencies are in outershell material and shape and so on in total weight. Other difference is Puppy earlier mentioned, in display.

I just saw today this kind of illuminating line at the bottom of the screen. My friend bought new R52 and the laptop has aldready been once in IBM service. They changed the panel but also said that this illumination is one kind of "attribute" which you have to live with it. This happened in Finland....
