I have install a WIFI miniPCI card into my X31 too. but the keyboard is flay just like but.
so, you can reinstall your miniPCI card.

I have X31 2672B1J. The performance is better than most of X4x. But X4x is lighte, thin. It base on what you need.

I install server 2003 on X31. All drivers work very good just as XP.
Make sure you download the right drivers for XP/win2003.

you get a svga+ cable istead of xga cable.

Did you try to restory the operatesystem to factry mode? If you have done this before and no luck, there must be something wrong with the mainboard, such as southbrigde.

T42 is better. T40 always have some problem with USB2.0 changing to USB1.1. And the CPU of T42 is Dothan which with 2M L2 cach, the CPU of T40 with only 1M L2 cach.

I'm sure it can drive 1680x1050 LCD monitor.
But you need the latest ATI Catalyst driver.

try Fn+Home to increase your screen bright.
I have downloaded the newest catalyst from Lenovo site. It installed in my T43 2668-44H very well and it works too.
But I think you should install the power management, hot key driver first.

I have T43 2668 44H without bluetooth. I installed BMDC300 bluetooth daughter card into it. There is not any error. The bluetooth bluetooth card work fine.

T43 does not suppor BMDC200. You should get BMDC300 to install into your T43.

when you guys say "use a 5v dc adapter" do you mean just use any 5v charger or plug? If so, what kind of wire or connector would you use to bridge the gap between the 5v adapter and the tiny connectors on the fan? yes, i mean find a equipment which can output 5V DC. But i'm not quite sure 5V charge...

That's a good trade, why not.
You can get a better screen, bigger VRAM, more faster and bigger HDD and BT. It sounds very good for you. The WIFI card can be replaced with a faster 54M or 108M miniPCI wireless card very easily, cost less than 40$.

You should make sure the wireless LAN MINI PCI card is ON in BIOS.
Power on you ThinkPad. when you see the color IBM logo on booting, press F1 key to go into BIOS. And check it out.

I think you should wait for a few. By then, you can get more 100GB 7200RPM HDD.
There is no 2010 error in T41P.
2010 error just be happened in IBM notebook coming with intel 915 chipset.

The intel document said 915 chipset do not support more than 2GB RAM. But you can put more than 2GB RAM in notebook with 915 chipset. But you just can't use it in your operating system, like XP or Vista.
