Re: Thinkpad T700 i7-10710 private project

How many boards are still available? Im still on the fence.

Also, can you confirm that the Thunderbolt 4 ports support PCI Express? If so, how many lanes?

WTB - P52 Engineering Sample

There are at least 3 engineering sample P52 units floating around that Ive seen. All have the i7-8850H prototype (unlocked), they have various screens (2 had the 4k touch panel and one had the 1080p panel), and they dont have serial numbers. The fans always run at full, and can only be turned down w...

Re: T23 LID Fixer-Upper

Had a T43p with a similar situation (magic eraser made it worse, sticky, flaking on edges). Ended up taking the old coating off with coarse sandpaper and then plastidipping it. Not perfect, but IMO was better than the bare metal IMO.

Re: Thinkpad T700 i7-10710 private project

How are you ensuring that the coolers (which are known for not having the tightest tolerances in manufacturing and are now almost a decade old) wont crack CPU dies? This was an issue that was had with original motherboards when these machines were new, I can imagine it may be an issue with a new boa...

Re: Transnote questions

Late response, but yes.

They cant boot from USB, so you need to burn floppies and use the floppy drive that connects to the dock port, but otherwise it was simple. An alternative is to have the latest BIOS which supports USB boot.

Re: Buying T480 parts, encompass out of stock, mod questions

Sorry for the late response. Im going to go ahead with the 16:10 mod as soon as I have parts. The people saying it wont fit are looking at the wrong dimensions. For whatever reason, dell calls the width of panels the height, so just by comparing W to W it seems to big (I made the mistake at first as...

Re: Does anyone know a place to source P/N:01HX690?

Thanks for the replies. That eBay listing is an old out-of-stock one that never went down. I contacted the seller, but no luck.

As for the plastic packing bezel, Ive got one as well. I used the T420 power button with it for a temporary fix.

Update #1 07/15/2020: 1. Support all models of T60/T60p Not T61/T61p 2. Supports all screens 14.1" & 15.1" 4:3 and 15.5 Wide Screen 3. Video Output: VGA 4. Thunderbolt 3.0 (x4) 5. EC firmware + BIOS will not be released Why exactly not T61/p? The 4:3 variants share a motherboard layout with the T60...

T480 16:10 mod - seems possible!

Hello all, After seeing a number of recent mass-market laptops launch with 16:10 panels, its clear that 16:10 displays are once again going to be manufactured and available. While you cant source any on eBay/AliExpress yet, they should be available as Dell and others fully introduce machines like th...

I would be interested in backing it provided the EC firmware is open-source, or sourced from a known provider, and that the price is reasonable.

Re: T25 keyboard EC flash + T480 advanced menu questions

Thanks for the info, Id completely forgotten to check up on this thread...

Could you share the unlocked BIOS you flashed? According to LeoKim, BIOS unlocks and KB matrices happen on the same EC chip, so theoretically it may actually be simpler than I originally thought.

Thanks!

Does anyone know a place to source P/N:01HX690?

Gathering the parts for my T26 has been quite an ordeal. Encompass (fedex who pinned it on encompass technically) unfortunately lost my shipment. I was able to reorder everything except for the power button cosmetic cover (P/N:01HX690). Encompass says its not going to come back to stock, and that th...

[WTB] - P/N: 01HX690 or T25 parts machine

Hello, Im currently in the process of building my T26 frankenpad, and have had an issue with Encompass losing my shipment. I was able to reorder every part except for P/N: 01HX690 (power button cosmetic cover). If anyone has one, used or new, or a dead/parts machine T25, I would be willing to buy ei...

Re: IBM Thinkpad T30 Power issue

I had a machine with identical symptoms, and it turns out that one of the big VRM-looking things near the CPU port had been ripped off of the board by a previous owner who was forcing the heatsink in/out and ripped it off. Resoldering it fixed the issue. Check contacts for the VRMs. If one is missin...

Re: T25 trackpad

Glad to hear it. I also got the no-NFC trackpad, so I shouldnt have issues. However, I didnt get the NFC unit for T25, and my T480 doesnt have one. Its not structurally integral I assume, and I have no need for NFC (idk why I got it on my P53 at this point). Encompass keeps pushing my order back bec...

Re: P53 Pantone Driver

I just tried it, unfortunately no luck. Im pretty sure it needs the Lenovo software since the panel was calibrated at the factory, and then the calibration profile stored in the cloud/server somewhere. Lenovo's software seems to be the only way to grab it. Ill send them another support ticked since ...

I tried with and without a hyphen (XX##XXXXX and XX-##XXXXX). Unfortunately still no luck, and no response from Lenovo. Ill try making a post over on their forums, maybe someone over there will be able to fix the issue for me.

Thanks for the advice though.

Re: Windows 2000 - password resetting

Solved!

Put the drives into my T43p, did the USB booting stuff I needed, and it all worked. Obviously didnt boot to windows on the T43p (BSOD on startup) but the USB did fine, and was able to complete my regedit work.

Windows 2000 - password resetting

Hello, I recently got 2 Transnotes, and both still have their Windows 2000 Professional installations on their hard disks. Transnote questions

I recently picked up 2 Transnotes for a pretty good price. They should have arrived soon, and Ill be able to evaluate the issues with the systems. I made a post over there enlisting the help of anyone with info on Leokim's T480 EC crack, or any other method of achieving the same result, to let me know. Re: T25 trackpad

If encompass is to be believed, X1C7/8 got a new trackpad, but it could be another case of "change the P/N and mark it up" (like T25, the X1 part ended up costing ~half of what the T25 one did when it was in stock).

Re: P53 UHD IPS panel failure - again

In all honesty, even if I were offered one, I dont know if I would take it. There are no good replacements from other manufacturers. Dell and HP's offerings both have cut-down Max-Q GPUs (Lenovo maintains the full-fat Max-P GPUs on the P53 and P73, unlike the previous P*2 gen where only the 17" got ...

The WQHD screen is plug and play once you swap the display cable to a 40-pin EDP (P/N 01YR503). The WWAN slot can use M.2 drives, but do note that its not full sized.

This is now the 3rd P53 IPS 4k panel that Ive had fail. The 1st one was screwed up right out of the box with bad backlight bleeding and a group of stuck pixels. I assumed it was shipping damage. My 2nd P53 (the unit that they replaced the 1st with after an RMA) had a panel began showing lines and wh...
