P14S Gen 6 AMD - WWAN Whitelist?

I'm curious if anyone knows whether the P14S Gen 6 AMD (or either T14 Gen 6) has a WWAN whitelist. I can't find any info on this. Further, Lenovo seems to limit the Ryzen 9 370 HX and not allow you to configure it (21RV) with WWAN. With that said, I don't see any reason that one couldn't just swap o...

Re: Thinkpad 25 - Early failure symptoms? (probably similar to T470)

You don't even need to flash the T470 EC for the 7-row to work, it has the necessary matrix in-memory already. The T480 requires a flash via JTAG.

Re: Does Thinkpad P1 gen 7 support 8TB M.2 SSD:s?

I just saw in the Thinkpad P1 gen 6's spec document https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_P1_Gen_6/ThinkPad_P1_Gen_6_Spec.pdf page 3 says "• M.2 2280 SSD up to 8TB, 4TB each " and "up to 4TB M.2 2280 SSD". So it seems unbelievably the firmware crippling has continued to P1 gen ...

Probably not... I unfortunately am hung up on having a trackpoint, and for work, I do actually need ISV certification. I've been looking at some Dell Precisions, but they honestly don't seem much better.

It died. Again. Completely dead this time - 0 signs of life, no lights when plugged into charger, nothing. I am beyond infuriated with this thing. Back to the old P52... which kicked right to life the moment I dragged it out of the box its spent the last few months in.

Re: P51 Powers but won't Boot to BIOS

Sounds like it may be trying to "learn" the memory config/timings? Let it sit "powered on" for a little while and see what happens. My P53 and P1 Gen 5 both went through this process, and if you've recently unplugged the CMOS battery, that could have something to do with it. Definitely do not try to...

I'd be interested in the 701s, what sort of shape are they in? Pics would be great, the plastics on those tend to disintegrate and the coatings go sticky.

Re: P1 5th gen - Swapping keyboard with WWan antenna for keyboard without Wwan. Possible?

The parts are completely different, the magnesium castings are not the same. The antennas are in the corner under either palmrest, and on the WWAN version, those segments are plastic, and the antennas go on top of them. The antennas are a separate part, but you cannot install them onto a non-WWAN C-...

RHEL Workstation on P1 Gen 5 - Basic Questions

So... Windows has finally become annoying enough that it has convinced me to jump ship to Linux in the near future. I'm preparing to make that move, and had a few (admittedly uninformed) questions about it. I do a lot of CAD work, need my nVidia GPU to behave, and would like something stable, so RHE...

Re: Thinkpad T700 i7-10710 private project

Why keep the screens? Great modern 16:10 LCDs are available, just carry the keyboards over, use newer batteries (from the T480 or P52 maybe), and do the rest from scratch, wouldn't be any more work, and parts availability would be a whole lot easier.

Re: Thinkpad T700 i7-10710 private project

The roll cage is probably one of the lights parts in a T6x machine, its magnesium alloy and incredibly spindly. Honestly, your biggest single-item weight pieces are probably your battery, your LCD, and then all of the plastic case pieces. The lid is also Mg and shouldn't be too heavy. That and all t...

Re: P52 - Trackpad middle click not working anymore

I quite like it, save for the QC issues (see my thread in the P-series forum). Beyond that, its light, its fast, its decently rigid (nowhere near as monolithic as the P52, but its solid), and it gets decent battery life. I'm enjoying it, and the cooling system is seriously impressive, and its the fi...

Re: P52 - Trackpad middle click not working anymore

Only fix I've found that works so far is resetting the trackpad settings after every restart (in the Windows setting menu). That, for some reason, fixes it. No idea why, haven't bothered to try to automate it yet since I'm dailying the P1 Gen 5 now.

Re: Order in for a CTO P1 Gen 5, current ship-by date: Jul 30

The failure saga continues... the latest culprit? SSD died. Machine won't recognize the drive (NVME recognition error on boot). If you clear CMOS you can make it see the drive, but it reads incredibly slowly. Windows will start, but usually BSOD right after sign-in. Had to throw it into an external ...

Re: Thinkpad P53 RAM question

There's 2 channels, 1 slot in each location is allocated to each channel. From memory it doesn't really matter, just follow the usual rule of keep your timings matched, try and keep capacities across channels the same, etc.
