Re: Advice on buying a T530
Hello atagunov.... You seem to be the T530/W530 expert around here Hey hey hey  this thread has been blessed with experts who have seen and owned these machines in numbers . I'm a mere user who happens to daily drive a W530, too lazy even to repaste it and unaware of what my temperature is. Ca...

Re: Advice on buying a T530
To clarify re jerking in Velocidrone "videogame" on W530 - I have discovered that this is related to how the game is interpreting input from my "game controller" - FPV remote LightRadio 3 Pro connected over a very strange USB cable I have to use because the socket on LightRadio 3 Pro is not good. So...

Re: Advice on buying a T530
W530 is a fine machine, I would look for W530 with a quad core CPU, mostly any of them and the original 1920x1080 screen. It's so nice not to have to replace anything. Chances are you are going to be happy with graphics card too. I am using W530 with 32Gb RAM and K2000M as a daily driver. Perfectly ...

I hate numeric keypads. Am I the only one? No you're not. W530, T520, T520, X220, X2100 + X230t/T60/R60 parts. My inventory. No numpads. Only one non-chicklet keyboard. Wanted to replace that but it's so nice and new and my family loves it. P.S. there's exactly one key I ever press on numpads - the...

Re: W530 Still?
My W530 ended up being unlucky.. I only pull it out when I need an extra Windows machine. Some modest Skype duties, a tiny bit of Adobe Premier. Mostly the machine is sitting in reserve waiting for when I need it. Both my Linux T520-s are still running daily, but that W530 is out of luck.. Well mayb...

Hi I've paid relatively big price for a keyboard on Aliexpress which I hoped would be NMB original but got what is definitely not an original keyboard. I didn't try to put it into use so no idea how good/bad it is. These days if I want a replacement keyboard - an I have in total 3 more or less used ...

I have the W530 because I needed a machine in the mechanical shop Wow! Last place on Earth I would have expected to find a W530! Earl of Wessex mending pavement kind of thing :) Don't look too deep into title and name, I made up the combination on the spot. Was quite amused to find out that the tit...

Re: Who still uses a T520 as a daily driver. And why ?
My T520 is sufficient to remote into work. I'm fine with how much space it's taking on my desk - a lot less than the desktops it has replaced. With SSD, 16Gb of RAM and a docking station with a 27" 16:10 desktop monitor plugged into it it's seriously fine. Old Microsoft natural keyboard and G502 mou...

Hi make sure that the SSD that you put in doesn't wobble! T61 has 9mm bay and SSD is.. what.. 7mm? Think so. You don't need top of the range SSD - the machine only supports SATA I and with Middleton BIOS SATA II. So your SSD can be not the fastest in the world. But it will be a lot better than HDD

What other reason there may be to upgrade? No matter how skeptical we might be about this Microsoft is providing a measure of virus protection in their updates. I have this same screen panel in my used W530. It is quite nice but I wouldn't say it is excessively bright. It's okay for use indoors, but nothing outstanding and not much overhead. I expect that to be the case with all these panels - as they're well used by now. I second the suggestion to try and ...

Interesting contraption! System on chip that slides into SO-DIMM socket
But I wish it had 8Gb RAM not 4, too little RAM is why I ditched T60.
Further what size is this screen? I can't figure out from article or photo..
Keyboard layout might be a bit too avant-garde to my taste

Re: Dim/Yellowed T60 Screen?
It's a 14 inch 1400x1050 screen, but if I can get a 14 inch 1600x1200 panel that will work, I'd certainly try! I've got a 15" T60 with 1400x1050. Sadly the panel is too dim to be comfortably usable even indoors, but the resolution was fine in my view. In fact going to higher resolution might not go...

Pretty darn sad. No life even after waiting a few minutes after trying to switch on? Mine sits motionless for about a minute - because I still haven't put that CMOS battery in. Think it might be the regular behaviour to sit with no signs of life for a minute and then wake up if the CMOS battery is r...

Hi I understand replacing the backlight (CCFL tube I guess) is possible but is a rather delicate procedure. You'll be ripping some of the screen panel apart to do it. Some people have done this. My guess is this is backlight. What screen resolution have you got? There was a seller of 1600x1200 panel...

Is the latest factory bios protected from Spectre ? I think so. If it does protect it comes at a cost, performance drops. So not everybody wants this protection. What is true is that a 1920x1080 W520/W530 panel can definitely be sold.
For how much is a different question They are offered at different prices.
But there will be people who would take one.

The 51nb 1200p ribbon is a much better design, but it has some breaks in the tracks. If you flex the cable when checking the continuity, it comes on and off. That's a shame, it looks quite nice. Is that ribbon a 30pin to 30pin?.. Why did they not use a ready-made 30pin to 30pin eDP cable? Is it bec...

You can use certain hardware info software to identify the installed LCD. I think AIDA64 can do it Certainly but W520/W530 are a special case - there is basically one FRU/model to look for if you want 1920x1080 https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=852451 Guess we can trust RBS when he names ...

If you really intend to keep the laptops, spend what is necessary, when it's necessary. If you wait for too long you won't find spares at all. Hi, what some people had noticed was that if they have a magnet somewhere on them then passing your hand with the said magnet over a Thinkpad can send it to sleep - as it incorrectly detects this as "lid closed event".
