Re: Corona-COVID-19 virus statistics and HOW is it affecting you.. what are you doing..?

My province is slowly reopening, however I know that that's more to do with political pressure than science, so as a man of science, I am still staying home and only leaving rarely (not counting walks/runs/ and bike rides in the middle of nowhere in the country where I live, where risk is pretty muc...

Re: Anyone else know what a Stylophone is?

It's somewhat popular, many artists have used it from David Bowie, Kraftwerk, to Marilyn Manson and the list goes on. I didn't know it existed either until I accidentally discovered it a couple weeks ago, but ever since then I have had great fun learning about it, and am now having fun playing it.

Anyone else know what a Stylophone is?

So I ordered this a while ago, it's a Stylophone, a pocket size basic synthesizer which you play with a stylus, meaning you essentially complete a circuit which plays each "key". I got it because I want to learn how to play some sort of instrument and this looks easy to learn and play, and now that ...

Ah great.

I will wait to do this though, until I have a spare fan/heat sink, just in case something goes wrong.

Re: T42, how to "open" the fan?

^ thank you, that is interesting, I may try that, if needed. However, that doesn't tell me how to actually "open up" the heat sink/fan assembly, in order to clean and lubricate it, or even to drill such a hole. That is what I am looking for. I don't want to ruin my only current fan for my working T42.

T42, how to "open" the fan?

So, it seems like I may need to clean out, as well as lubricate the fan in my T42. I am not sure how to do this, I googled it but nothing came up. I don't see any screws or anything, and the fan is "inside" of the heat sink itself, not a separate component, so I will need to take the heat sink parti...

Re: EU seems to be in danger...

Why attribute those "qualities" to Soros-hating individuals ? I am not attributing those to Soros-hating individuals in general, just to the portion of them that are truly antisemitic, whether they know their antisemitism stems from religious influence or not. I bet some know precisely where antise...

So I am not going to speak for everyone that hates Soros (I don't, I don't partake in conspiracy theory) but I am sure there is a portion of true antisemitic individuals among them, who may, or may not understand that the antisemitism they have been taught, originally stems from religion. You're wa...

Re: EU seems to be in danger...

I mean the Jews apparently killed Jesus after all but that was 2000 years ago You do understand that Jesus himself was Jewish, don't you? Yes, but that doesn't cancel out the fact that according to the bible at least, it was the Jewish religious authorities, and most of the Jewish people that wante...

Re: EU seems to be in danger...

Speaking on whether most people care if Soros is Jewish or not, the complicated thing here is that many people see "Jewish" as not just a religion, but as an ethnicity as well. It's why I see many people still refer to Daniel Radcliffe as being Jewish, when he himself has openly said multiple times ...

Re: "Acceptable" CPU Temps?

I just ran a Prime95 CPU stress test for about an hour, and it went up to 78c (when using BIOS controlled fan speed), then just a minute after I stopped it, it dropped down to 60c, and not long ater that, went to 54c. So I guess that 78c after one hour of an unrealistic stress test, is not bad at al...

I have some new internal parts coming in soon, so I will take a closer look at the heatsink/fan and maybe clean it out thoroughly soon, as well.

"Acceptable" CPU Temps?

*Decided to post here because this should, I think, apply to any computer, not just Thinkpads* I have owned a Thinkpad T42 for about the past two months, and it's great. Only complaint I have about it, is that the fan is rather loud, and I found out that it's normal for Thinkpad's of it's age and se...

Artist(s) that stand out to you?

I don't know why I am asking this, I guess I am just bored and find this an interesting question to ask. What artist(s) specifically stand out, or are particularly meaningful to you (and why of course)? Being that I am OP, I'll start with myself I guess. There's only one artist that really stands ou...

It appears that way yes. I've already contacted the seller, and also got a response. They said they will send another one, or send me a half refund, which is fair. I haven't decided which I am going to do yet, as I found a seller right here in Niagara Falls selling various different ram modules for ...

Yes, I edited my post when I realize I said 765 when I meant 755. I tried cleaning with alcohol, doesn't seem to have worked, the contacts also looked perfectly clean before. Edit: I just tried removing the module from the bottom, and replacing it with the one that wouldn't work internally, and it's...

T42 CPU & RAM Upgrade Issue

So a while back I bought 2GB (2x1GB) Kingston ram modules from an ebay seller within Canada, and I also bought a Petium M 755 (2.0ghz) to upgrade the 1.7ghz Pentium M that was in there. The RAM came in a long time ago, but due to coming from China, the CPU only came in today. I just did the upgrade....

Fortunately for me, all the alcohol retailers in my area were always still open, as they were deemed an "essential" service. Which Legacy Thinkpad would be best for my needs?

Okay, So I already own one legacy Thinkpad, a 380XD and it's very good: Pentium MMX 233mhz, 64MB RAM Internal Floppy and CD drive, Cirrus Logic Video Etc It's great and I am running Windows 95C on it, and I even have USB mass storage drivers on it, for easy file transfers. I am however looking for a...

T42, slower performance on battery power?

Alright, So my recently acquired T42's battery still has 90% capacity, and still lasts a long time. I noticed that when running on battery performance in games is much slower as there is a noticeable drop in frame rate, when compared to running on AC power. Of course I expected this to be because of...

Can you tell me more about the T60 and T60P you have?

I am looking to buy one of those, but I would like 1024x768 screen, and 128mb video ram.

Edit: I could also be interested in taking the 310ED, if the shipping isn't bad.

Re: T42 CPU upgrade

I'd stay with 735. Performance upgrades are meaningless on a 15-year-old platform. Not to mention that 765 is a hot-running-beast when pushed hard enough. My $0.02 only... You're probably correct there, the 765 would cost me $46 so it doesn't seem worth it, however if the 760 would work at the adve...

Re: T42 CPU upgrade

Mine has the 735, 1.7ghz. So I guess it's either don't upgrade, or go for the 765 then. Originally I was not planning on upgrading mine at all, however from a guide I watched removing the keyboard which is easy, gives you access to not just the ram, but the cpu as well, making upgrading both easy as...
