Is anyone still modding inverters for the T601-Boe-Hydis Screen Build?
I had an inverter go bad on a T601s with a Boe Hydis HV150UX2-100 Screen I built sometime ago. Modding a new inverter is outside my ability.

Re: Windows 11 Pro without TPM vs. Windows Server 2022
dr_st, the 2032 end-of-life version of Windows definitely fixes my problems for my laptops and secondary imaging workstation, but my primary imaging workstation is a converted Dell R815 Server with 4-CPUs running on "Windows 10 for Workstations". Unsure of the end-of-service scenario on that Windows...

Re: Windows 11 Pro without TPM vs. Windows Server 2022
dr_st, I always get the best advice from these forums! I had no idea there was a third option, and I was on the fence about getting Windows Server 2022 grey-market, since it's so sketchy how people obtain discs out there being sold for less than a hundred dollars, when the program sells for thousand...

Windows 11 Pro without TPM vs. Windows Server 2022
The end of lifecycle is coming for Windows 10 in about two years, and By my appraisal, it leaves two viable options for running machines past that hard deadline for service updates; either one installs Windows 11 Pro, without TPM protocols, or finds a grey market copy of Windows Server 2022, which d...

T540P running a 1x16gb DDR3 SODIMM
For inexplicable reasons, my T540p will not boot with two sticks of RAM, anytime I put one in the top slot, it goes into a boot loop. I would really prefer not to tear the machine apart and waste a weekend putting in a new motherboard and doing a reinstall of all my software. I see that there are th...

The current Nvidia control panel doesn't support the Quadro 140m, and for some reason, a compatible version didn't show up with a fresh install of Windows 10 on my T601s. The driver is the latest supported version. Is there anywhere to download a prior version, or will I just need reinstall the driv...

Re: R61 + Panasonic UJ220 Bluray combo compatiblity
Non-sense, an external Blu-ray is total defeat after getting this R61 to max specs (15 inch standard model outfitted with a Boe Hydis HV150UX2 with a Real Black Stuff custom R61 ribbon connector, Middleton's BIOS, T9300 CPU, 8gb RAM). OEM FRU, hack, or bust. I'll post pictures soon, I essentially ha...

Re: R61 + Panasonic UJ220 Bluray combo compatiblity
The current DVD drive on my R61i is not ultrabay-slim as found on the T601 builds I've done. It's a chunky, standard ultrabay, as found on models going back to the R40. I'll post pictures of the connector in the next day or so, which looks the same as the standard, generic UJ220. If there is a conne...

I'd like to add a Bluray to my 15" standard R61, and all the information says that the Panasonic UJ220 is the standard one that is listed (I forget the official FRU). Does anyone know if any Panasonic UJ220 will work, or if it has to be the "official" Lenovo version? Are there other players out ther...

Best soft-travel-protector for T60 / T601F
I've just finished building few of these T601F machines with Boe Hydis LED displays, and want to take one to work as a regular thing, tucked away in a very large briefcase / shoulder bag combo. Is there a classic inner-soft zipper case that works well for the T60 exterior, or should a 17" zippered l...

USB-C to 90W charger for T60/T61
I found this charming device on eBay, that allows one to connect an old-style Lenovo round plug with a modern USB-C charger. There are a whole slew of new USB-C chargers that are rated at 90W, so I'm curious if anyone has tried such a combo for a more compact travel experience more akin to the MacBo...

Re: Stubborn R61i BIOS
Yes, I hate to report that this is true. It was an R60 board labeled with an in-house "42W7822" sticker from directmacros.com, but a factory-placed R60 FRU. It looks like an internal error, but they have a return and refund policy for these sorts of situations. The R60 15 inch boards are almost comp...

Stubborn R61i BIOS
I've been trying to upgrade an R61i BIOS to Middletons, which has not worked, following the guides and suggestions of others. T540P boot from Raid 0
Its a real downer that the T540p can only use a M.2 2242 SATA Drive, and not NVME for increased speed. However, there are spots for SATA drives, one for the M.2, and the other the older SATA standard. Some of these gamer-types have instructional manuals for booting from RAID 0. Running two drives in...

T460p LTE M.2 boot + Sata SSD storage
I'm doing a fresh Windows 10 install on my T460p in the coming weeks, using the LTE M.2 port with a stubby 512gb NVME ssd (abandoning the 4g WiFi hotspot, which is somewhat useless in 2022, as phones handle running a hotspot much better than they used to). Does anyone know if a 2.5 inch SSD will wor...

I am extremely close to finishing my first T601 Frankenpad, but the DVD drive comes up short from connecting with the T61 motherboard. My T540p is running an Intel i7 4900MQ with a max display port resolution of 3840x2160. So it can certainly output 4K streaming. Why a UHD Blu-Ray should be so impossible is beyond me.

Re: Internal 4k Blu-Ray drive for T540p
My research indicates there are several UHD Slim-Blu Ray drives for laptops. They are not burners, which are the bulky big ones meant for tower systems, and as external drives. Whether they will work with the T540p with the right driver is the question. The T540p is my spare, and "viewing" laptop. I...

For the Widescreen, 16:10 15.4 Inch model, I've read that almost any panel meant for this format with compatible plugs will work. I'm very interested in getting one with an LED backlight. Adaptec 1480 vs. 1480A vs. 1480B SCSI PCMCIA Cards for T60/61
Does anyone know the difference between the three versions of the Adaptec SCSI 1480 PC-bus card? There's a "plain" version without a letter, then A, and finally, B. I currently own "A". There's also rumored to be a rare "X" version for Mac computers. Adaptec is mum on their website, and seems to lis...

My bad on 16:9. Ahem... "Widescreen". I found a very good post / guide about using Imacon Scanners, Adaptec cards, 64 bit Windows, and the T61 in specific. There are many varying opinions on the topic. It can be done in a 64 bit Windows OS, but only in 32 bit compatibility mode. Some say special com...

Re: Installing Windows 2000 on a T61 for driver compatibility.
After reading back through some guides on the subject, I discovered the secret to compatibility with the adaptec card in Windows 10 is keeping the machine in 32 bit mode. I want to install my Adaptec 1480 PCMCIA SCSI card onto a T61, but the most recent drivers are for Windows 2000. If I can install Windiws 2000, it should allow it to be paired with my Imacon Flextight II scanner. Then I would follow through with installs of XP, 7, and finally Windows 10. I would rea...
