Re: T60p sluggish with Win 10. Any solution

I would advise to use Windows 10 LTSC if possible as it is much lighter and it doesn't have as much background processes running. Also, the updates you get are security updates, not those big feature updates which takes a long time to install and break stuff. You won't get modern apps and the Micros...

Re: Positive feedback for FAIR Traders

I just installed a screen bought to digmorepaka. He sent it quickly with a trusted courier and it was extremely well packaged and protected. I absolutely recommend him!

Where to find good quality trackpoints?

I would like to get some new trackpoint caps to replace some heavily worn ones I have on some machines. There are some sellers on eBay and shops which sell them but I'm not sure they are as good as the original ones. I'm interested in standard soft dome, soft ring and classic dome trackpoints (no lo...

Re: 802.11ax / ac Wifi Upgrade options for W520 ?

The AC-7260 RBS recommended is a great card, I'm using one right now. Check if your W520 has a WLAN card whitelist too (then you should get a modified BIOS so that it doesn't refuse to boot with that card installed). Any Mini-PCIE card will fit, the brand doesn't matter. Also if you decide to get th...

Re: X220 mSATA unrecogrised (outdated BIOS?)

What do you mean by unrecognised? Is it displayed on the BIOS devices list alongside the internal disk?
This might be obvious but, if you are using Windows, have you initialized it? Can you see it under Windows Disk Management tool?

Re: X100e Project for Christmas

Yes, a new SSD is always a nice addition, something like a 120GB Crucial BX500 for 20€ should be good enough. However it was intended as a "low-cost" project, the only component I needed to buy was the CMOS battery as I have everything else. I'll consider it. Thank you very much, I'll definitely try...

X100e Project for Christmas

Hello! The Christmas season is around the corner and I'll be having some spare time. I'm thinking about taking care of my old X100e which has been on reserve for a few years. It is a fairly slow machine and it can't even run Windows 7/10 smoothly due to the mediocre CPU it has, but it will be funny ...

Re: Ericson F5521GW alternative use for the slot

You can install a mSATA SSD, it is a fairly easy replacement and works out of the box. If you need extra storage it is a nice addition (although they are becoming more expensive as mSATA is a dying form factor). Take into account it is SATA II, not SATA III so it is slightly slower than the main 2.5...

Re: WTS: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and A31p parts)

Such a beautiful and fascinating machine. I have quite some projects to finish and a limited budget right now, otherwise I would be interested. It'd be fantastic to find that kind of numpad on newer ThinkPads (sub 14" ones with no numpad), hotswapping an optical drive/HDD/numpad must be awesome.

Re: OK, now we descend into the STOLEN election

I usually don't like to participate in this kind of arguments, but this is begining to look ugly, doesn't matter which forum or social network you browse, you find always this kind of posts. I will tell you what I'm seeing as an outsider (European): You are causing a LOT of insecurity in the western...

Re: T420 Driver for GeForce GT-520m GPU needed (63Y1705 motherboard) needed

I've seen this happening with other laptops (not ThinkPads but it is related to nvidia lack of support), with newer graphics card such as GT-720M and GT-820M. It turns out nvidia no longer supports those graphic cards so if you download the driver from nvidia page, it will throw an error (hardware n...

Re: Reading CPU temp on a T60 with TPFC and RightMark CPU Clock Utility

My favourite tool to measure temps and sensors is hwinfo, at least on newer ThinkPads I have found its measurements pretty close to TPFC. I don't know about RMClock, I haven't used it yet, I'll try it.

I got it last week too, it took 15 minutes to install and it is working fine. They finally released it on time, not like 2004! It is a much smaller patch too.

Re: T420 Audio Stuttering Issue

Maybe it is a bit offtopic, but I experienced something similar on my T430. When I was listening to music or audio and web pages/applications/any CPU intensive process loaded, the audio glitched and I experienced stutering. I got a dock which came with an extra 90W AC adapter (the stock one was 65W)...

Update T430 to Windows 10 2004

Hello, I have a T430 which I have upgraded and dissasembled quite a lot of times. I got a deal on a SSD and I plan to change my current SSD (2013 device, I will use it on an older desktop), so I will, once again, replace another part. I run Windows 10 on this machine and everything works flawlessly....
