Re: 770 bad inverter.....why?

No go, I'm afraid.

I re-soldered the inductor and de-oxed the slider giving it lots of wiggle. Still the same. I've seen this before - maybe it's a failing CCFL (if there is only 1....)

I managed to source another good lid with LCD and that has gone in it's place.

Best Wishes

380Z not booting - interchangability with other 380 machines?

Hi All I have loads of different 380/380Ex machines but only 1 x 380Z. The 380Z does not boot. I've switched the RAM, disconnected everything not necessary and switched the CPU for another. Still nothing. It powers up with fan but nothing else. Guess it would be power related. However my question is...

Z61t shuts down installing XP at "Registering Components"

Hi All Never come across this before. Well used to installing XP on SATA and always use the same image. The install goes fine but when it's down to 17 minutes and 'registering components' the machine shuts down... Restart the setup and it's back at 39 minutes. Gets to the same place and shuts down. ...

Re: 770 bad inverter.....why?

Well spotted. F1 was blown. I've temporarily bypassed it and now the screen powers on but constantly flashes. About twice a second. Constant.

External monitor is fine.

Any ideas about the flashing?!

Thanks

770 bad inverter.....why?

Hi All I'm working on a 770. The display is totally dark (but you can see an image if you shine a torch). I don't know for certain if it's the CCFL tubes or it's the inverter. I've measured voltages across the inverter and it all seems to go dead about halfway across. Here is a pic of it https://ibb...

Re: Thinkwiki TFT panels page

Hi I've got another one for you if you're willing to do an update? The 770 screen has IBM part code 05K9303 and FRU part number 05K9305. It's an NEC LCD with model number NL10276BC26-08. It's 13.3" and XGA 1024 x 768. It's completely different to the screens used in the 390E so I don't know why it's...

Re: 770 powers up / fans but....nothing!

I managed to find a replacement DC-DC board. Stripped the machine and swapped it and.....no change. Then I realised I had a CPU from a 600 which uses the same connectors as the 770. So I swapped it and.....nothing different. Then I noticed that the LCD was flickering on power up which wasn't happeni...

Re: Does the 701c/cs need a cmos battery to work?

I have a funny feeling it might. Some thinkpads have some odd quirks and the 701 is definitely one of them. For instance, without a boot device I think it just sits on error code 52. 52 is nothing to do with the problem, I think it's just the last error code to be checked and when it can't get furth...

Re: A true fix for blink of death circuit for T21 (caution image

I definitely agree that all the 'proposed' different fixes out there in my experience are not permanent. I had a huge pile of these machines with BoD and I could fix some using different suggestions but many of which I came back to later and the BoD had re-occured and whatever the fix was used initi...

Re: Thinkpad 701c in the Wild

Take it apart and list the individual items on ebay. The keyboard, screen, lid, hard drive, some of the undamaged boards, etc are all not only worth some pocket money but will go out into the world and help revive 3-5 other 701s.

If I find a machine which can't be saved that's what I do.

X3x Keyboard caps interchangability?

Hey all I have a bunch of X3x machines and the main thing letting them down is the worn out keyboards. It seems X3x keyvboards in good condition are hard to come by. Re: 770 powers up / fans but....nothing!

Back in 2006 when I first got my 770x it came to me with symptoms that I recall as being similar to yours. Re: Thinkpad 701c in the Wild

Was it for sale? How much was it? I'm rather confused about machines like the 701c. In my experience, almost all of the ones you see in the wild look like they've been at the bottom of the sea for 6 years. Most 600s seem to look equally as war torn. I do have a few which are in good condition but th...

Copy windows installer to the disk itself.

R51 tick tick no power...

Hi All

I've got an R51 which shows a flash of the battery light and makes a tiny little tick noise when you press the power button. You can repeat this immediately and it just keeps doing it. Before I try to troubleshoot this myself, has anyone had something similar? Is it the motherboard?

Thanks!
