Re: T430s screen upgrade FHD

I am looking at this as well. The screen is my only issue with my T430s. It's an i7 with backlit keyboard and wwan, no gpu. I found these on aliexpress: LCD: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32952948457.html Controller board kit: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33014525194.html They both mention the...

Blown Backlight fuse T430s

Hey. So aparently I blew the backlight fuse in my T430s. My screen is super dim while the machine is functional. Ive read I have to check the fuses to see which doesnt have continuity (any indications on which fuse it may be in this model is apreciated). Ive never done any soldering, so whats the be...

@systemBuilder Thanks for taking the time to answer my old question.
However, I was able to replace the fuse successfully. And Yes, Please disconnect your battery first before operating the laptop. I learned it the hard way :banghead:
What exactly did you do to fix it?

Classic Keyboard T430s

Hey guys, im thinking about doing the classic keyboard on this laptop, but after reading some guides theres some things I havent understood yet. - Does replacing the T430s for a T420s palmrest make it a more seemless installation of the keyboard (no need of removing brackets), does it just fit perfe...

Re: T430s dead

I know this isnt fun because youll have to disassemble the whole laptop for trying this and could very possibly not fix the issue, but Id recommend checking if the fan/thermal paste are in good condition, since it can be a security meassure that the laptop turns off when cpu temps or stability cant ...

Re: Thinkpad batteries

Ive always bought unbranded batteries from Aliexpress and never had an issue. Theyre cheap and theyve always lasted me until Ive wanted to sell the laptop. Id rather pay cheap for what I know isnt original than paying more for a potential scammer.

If T430s has a wifi-whitelist, it can be removed with Ivyprep/1vyrain, see the 'Stickies' in this forum. I see. Im thinking about simply buying a more modern card accepted by lenovo, not sure if they have any wifi 6 in their list. If im correct the bios flash without additional hardware is pretty r...

Re: T430s Upgrades

I would consider the IPS FHD (or QHD, if you prefer higher resolutions) upgrade, if you can find a kit. The T430 s (as opposed to T430) battery is at the front, not the back. Therefore, there is no version that sticks out the back, and that is also why the capacity is so low, and requires the Ultra...

T430s Upgrades

Hey guys. Ive just bought a T430s and im curious about what upgrades can be done on this laptop (outside of the basic ram, ssd, classic keyboard...). The right way to do is via thinkfan - available in all major distros. The configuration is specific for each machine but its easy to find many configurations for each machine by using Google. Re: Screen Tearing when Docked (X61)

On Firefox, you could try forcing layer acceleration by setting layers.acceleration.force-enabled=true in about:config . I dunno if this improves things. Tried in nothing. Re: Screen Tearing when Docked (X61)

IIRC browsers (especially Firefox) has poor V-sync support on Linux. I think it's not strictly a CPU bottleneck, but more on the GMA X3100, as its memory bandwidth is limited to DDR2-667, and that it has to share with the processor. That said, I don't have any Core 2 laptop with ATI or nVidia graph...

Re: Screen Tearing when Docked (X61)

Have you tried the problematic monitor in other laptops, preferably ones of the same vintage as the X61? I just tried mine on the 1920x1200 monitor, and experienced tearing when watching 720p videos on scenes with fast movement and abrupt scene changes. It's even worse with 1080p videos. :( But I g...

Screen Tearing when Docked (X61)

Im asking this because im not sure how much of this issue is due to hardware and how much due to software. Im using Linux Mint as operating system. Re: Fan error (Part 2)

If the fan actually works and spins, and just an error is reported on startup (I wonder why that happens), then it's not such a terrible issue. Depending how frequently you reboot / hibernate the PC, only you can decide how crucial it is for you. I've merged this with your previous thread. No need ...

I use GNU Linux myself, but id say go with windows 7, cpu can get sluggish even with simple websites. Windows 10 was designed for more modern systems, so simple tasks that wouldnt be an issue for these systems can completely slow down the cpu on the x61.

Re: Current screen upgrade status on T60/T61
