T60 - wifi card whitelist

Recently acquired T60 and am setting it up with Linux Mint. Everything ok but I want to swap out the wifi card for one that's "N" capable. The existing is an Intel card w/ 2 antenna wires. Online forum posts hint that some Atheros cards might work with stock BIOS without triggering the 1802 error me...

Where to get Window 7?

Forgive me if this has been covered before. How does one get a copy of Windows 7?

The stuff I see online, I'm hesitant to download a copy from (whereever) and I'm guessing keycodes that are posted on the internet are probably no good. Maybe that's the only way to go?

Suggestions please.

Re: T61 14" wide screen - display adjustments

:) Thanks for the explanation. I really don't know the exact model/type of display in my T61 (is there a way to find out without physically opening it up?) In the decades of staring at different computer monitors over thousands of hours, this is the first time where a display just didn't feel right ...

Re: T61 14" wide screen - display adjustments

Forgive me for not knowing the technical details. Since the hardware/software is capable of driving a generic external monitor via the VGA port, what's the obstacle that keeps one from being able to swap out the T61 display for a different type?

Re: Requesting Help Finding Modern Linux Distros for T60

I'm not completely fluent with Linux, but you shouldn't have to mess with it to get it working. Look up the board index to find the "Linux Questions" forum; I'm sure someone there knows how to fix it.

Re: Requesting Help Finding Modern Linux Distros for T60

Linux 19.3 should work. Have you tried this? Burn iso image to CD, then boot from CD. It may take a few minutes to boot up into full mode. The OS should be fully functional from a CD boot. If it works, you should be able to install from that point and boot from the hard drive. Please let us know if ...

T61 14" wide screen - display adjustments

Newly acquired T61 (7661-D28) on Windows 7. Everything works fine. But the display bothers my eyes. It puts a strain on my eye when looking at internet forums such as this. This does not change whether the backlight is bright or dim; the display appears more "warm" as if there's a "night light"/"nig...
