It seems to be working fine now. The link to the video I posted showed that when the guy was changing his WiFi adapter the 2 wires were connected when he opened the laptop up. Surely that means that 2 wires are meant to be connected. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.

That's my laptop there. But when opened up one of those wires to the WiFi adapter wasn't connected. Hope that explains it. Thanks.

I then connected the other one and switched in and it seems fine now. I've had it restarted a few times now and it's still fine. I seen videos online about changing the wireless adapter and it showed them disconnecting 2 wires before replacing. It was on identical laptop to mine.

What I mean was that when opened up i seen 2 small cables. One of them was connected to wireless adapter and the other was not but it looked like it was meant to be.

Hi I have an update.
I opened up laptop as suggested and there was 2 connectors to network card and one of them wasnt even connected to the card. The thing is why would it occasionally connect to the internet? I'm thinking it was maybe pressing and making contact occasionally. Any thoughts?

I had installed the drivers from intel which were dated 2019. Just double checked driver properties for my WiFi adapter and driver date is 2015 which were the previous ones.

Hi I downloaded and installed the drivers from intel website. The laptop is windows 10 64bit and still no joy.

Yes, but through the Device Manager.

Make sure you pick the right option as there are multiple drivers for different operating systems and their respective versions.

I updated drivers by clicking update driver.

Hi the wireless adapter is an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC3160. I have tried updating drivers etc as well as things like disabling Ethernet connection incase possible conflict as well as other possible solutions all to no avail..

Does Windows manage the wireless connection on a Lenovo g50 or is some software responsible? If so how can I get windows to manage it? Thanks

Hi what about just buying a usb wireless adapter? Would that work and save me the trouble of opening laptop up etc?

Hi thanks for replying I've tested it at my house and 2 family members houses and the same thing happens. According to online it's a common thing on these laptops but I can't work out how to fix it at all.

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have a g50 laptop which is intermittently dropping the WiFi signal. I have tried all the possible fixes online and it's still the same. I'm starting uni in a week and really need it to be working. Can someone please help?
