Think folks are stumped on this puzzle... but here's a try...

a) Noted that you have already tried pressing/holding power on/off button for 20+ seconds.

The last time I've checked, Chrome had disabled/neutered Video Download Helper's most useful function (ie: some folks use it to download YouTube videos). It's the initial week of adjustment when I switched from T410 to X1 Carbon chiclet/island keyboard. As of today, I literally did lots of typing on both of T410 and X1, naturally switched back and forth today, and didn't even blink twice about it! Is it seriously that much of a difference?? Oh wow, Firemin is basically FireFox sans memory leaks?
Will give it a try!

The main reason why I still keep FireFox around is its (payware) Add-on: "Video-DownloadHelper" which is very useful!

On a side note, how do you enable USB connections to VirtualBox?
Couldn't do it (maybe I'm not technical enough)...

VirtualBox (or Hyper-V for that matter) that cannot access USB is totally useless to us...

Just a thought, is there any way for a 3D-Scanner to scan, then 3D-Print new body for your ThinkPad? I do realize that it's probably less durable (and incorrect colour!), but at least you would then have working replacement ThinkPad body parts/panels to work with! Perhaps even an open-source code of...
