Re: Retrofit USB-C charging into older Thinkpads?

You've actually got a good question! The quick answer is that at the moment I don't know of any maker for USB-C directly to barrel-type right now--and ThinkPad/Lenovo has no plans to make this either. (You can petition them, and if enough folks ask for this...) 1) USB-C to slim-tip (rectangular) typ...

Yeah, the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Tablet Gen 3 is also sold out in our region also...
Perhaps it's just an inventory allocation situation.

However, as the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Tablet Gen 3 was announced Jan 2018, let's keep our fingers crossed!

T495s/T490s vs X1C7 Hands On Differences?

Anyone with T495s/T490s vs X1C7 hands on comparison on the differences? As a daily user of of X1C3/X1C4 for almost 5 years, I'm shocked by how the T495s/T490s have almost the same physical form factor. (OK, T495s/T490s is slightly thicker and slightly heavier, but physically close enough with X1C7)....

1. Recommend you get i7 CPU if you feel you can take advantage of hyperthreading for faster batch photo processing. (CPU is also soldered, cannot be upgraded). 2. Definitely get your maximum 16 GB for future proofing your X1C7, since RAM is soldered, cannot be upgraded. 16 GB RAM especially since yo...

Re: Upgrading x230 from hdd to ssd.

We also have the X230 with Win7 Home 64-bit.
(It was a 500 GB 2.5" SATA SSD, if you are interested to know).

We have successfully upgraded from HDD>>SSD using the X230 Product Recovery DVD set.
It went very smoothly!

We also prefer to do a fresh reinstall, and not cloning.
ymmv.

Good luck!

Here's an article comparing the T490s vs X1 Carbon:

The gist of above article as below:

~Size of T490s and X1 Carbon is almost the same.

~T490s: Brightest LCD option is 250 nits

For this easy-to-break ASUS USB-C cable, apparently this contains Thunderbolt 3 support. Hence when user tries to buy replacement cable, one *must* get the USB-C cable *with* Thunderbolt 3 support. This is where things get messy. Have you ever seen a store selling USB-C cable and advertise that it s...

Very nice preview ;) The P53 for the first time comes with a very nice slimline (slimmer) version of 230W AC adapter only available upon purchase of P53. The P52 and earlier models had the older HUGE 230W AC adapters (we also have one of this older 230W at hand to compare). This is very similar to w...

You may consider to take a disk image just after Product Recovery.

We use AOMEI OneKey Recovery, which closely mimics the previous ThinkPad Rescue & Recovery function.
