Re: Thinkpad 25 First Impressions (PICS)

Yes, we exclusively use 2.5" HDD for backup, and that is very useful, thank you!! A Y-cable for additional USB power input to power up the eSATA connection, ingenious ;) Are you backup drives 2.5" or 3.5"? If 2.5" you can use something like www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-Inch-Hard-Disk-Drive-SATA-22Pin-to-eSA...

Re: Thinkpad 25 First Impressions (PICS)

Well, think on the bright side! Understand that you have replaced your T410 with your ThinkPad 25. We are still using our T410, and it was a major pain to do massive Gigabytes of data backup via USB 2.0 slow connection. It was painful. (Went away for a few hours for USB 2.0 backup, then came back to...

Re: Is the Carbon X1 "intermittent left button" problem still a thing?

Just to report back anecdotal evidence: We have two (2) units of X1C3 (3rd generation), and one (1) unit of X1C4 (4th Generation), and we have never seen this problem you've observed (rare intermittent mouse click miss). Actually all of our ThinkPad units have never had this problem (see our list of...

External Square Monitor Displays still available

Just checked, and found that external square (4:3) monitor displays still available.

www.alibaba.com/showroom/square-lcd-mon ... -inch.html

The catch: many manufacturers demand minimum 5 units per order, and prices are (sky) high.

Anyways, here's to wishing that all ThinkPads are 4:3 LCD ratio !

I'll jump to buy one with a 4:3 display if/when that happens, with top specs for everything else maxed out too ;) (and Classic Keyboard !!) If one uses a non-ThinkPad USB-C charger and it wrecks your (expensive) ThinkPad, think this voids your warranty. Part of the allure of the ThinkPad line is that we can switch HDD/SSD of the same interface (SATA / M.2 PCIe NVMe), and ThinkPad pretend not to know about it. It might depend on the region's shipping partner, might not be Lenovo's shipping dept per se. In our region, they used a courier, who did put in their own courier's outer carton (with adequate padding), and with Lenovo's own intact carton/notebook inside. So our X1C3 unit was very well protected. Al...
