Re: T430 and 4G LTE

A warm welcome to our ThinkPad forum! The T430/X230 series was launched in 2012. The T430 had: WiFi that connects via 802.11a/b/g/n and connects to networks of 2.4 GHz broadband as well as of 5 GHz broadband. www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Lenovo-ThinkPad-T430-Notebook.81802.0.html ~3G Mobile Broadban...

Re: Samsung SSD for T500

WOW, many thanks for your tip! We've had our fair share of failing HDD's, but for SSD's we got lucky, our T42 (PATA) SSD failure a few years back did not induce any data loss... One thing that is to be aware of (and has in fact been discussed before) is SSD sudden death syndrome. Having experienced ...

Re: TP25 vs. t430s-classic-keyboard-mod first impressions

I'll jump to buy one with a 4:3 display if/when that happens, with top specs for everything else maxed out too ;) (and Classic Keyboard !!) The reduced key travel and reduced button travel is because of the thin chassis. They even mentioned this in the TP25 unboxing video they had to redesign the ke...

Re: USB-c charging, what wattage/voltage is needed?

If one uses a non-ThinkPad USB-C charger and it wrecks your (expensive) ThinkPad, think this voids your warranty. Therefore only use ThinkPad USB-C chargers if you really have to, for the sake of your warranty. (You still can use the traditional ThinkPad rectangular charging pin ones on all ThinkPad...

Re: I need to vent about the 940MX

I SWEAR a few weeks ago (when T25 got announced) that in our region, the T470 had the 940MX GPU option, 16 GB RAM, i7 dual core CPU, SSD options. I did seriously compare T470 vs T25 back then. (Sorry, did not make any screen shots, and no print outs). Just visited ThinkPad regional site today, and t...

Re: P51s SSD upgrade

Part of the allure of the ThinkPad line is that we can switch HDD/SSD of the same interface (SATA / M.2 PCIe NVMe), and ThinkPad pretend not to know about it. (They can still see it--your HDD/SSD ordered with your machine was hardly used; they just ignore it). But users changing the storage interfac...

Wow, a 15" 4:3 screen, one would imagine that a mid-sized pizza would almost physically fit onto that cavernous screen!
(no wonder folks used to call the 17" Thinkpads with 4:3 screens a big pizza box).

You are quite correct; lurking in my mind is that the vast majority of younger population has never seen a 16:10 screen in front of them (let alone a 4:3 screen). So moaning about how the superior 16:10 screen is much better than a 16:9 screen may well be met with a "So what?" response from the youn...

Re: So Who Actually Ordered?

It might depend on the region's shipping partner, might not be Lenovo's shipping dept per se. In our region, they used a courier, who did put in their own courier's outer carton (with adequate padding), and with Lenovo's own intact carton/notebook inside. So our X1C3 unit was very well protected. Al...

Yeah, we concur, adding a SSD greatly extends our own T42 aging notebook's useful life! We also maxed out our RAM, especially useful if you are using 64-bit Win7. Re: Time to crowdfund the real ThinkPad: let's see how badly we want it

Agree, that's exactly our point, that soldered RAM is shooting yourself in the foot, and is antithesis to future-proofing your laptop! Because newer higher capacity RAM modules become available over time, so one by definition cannot "max out" one's RAM at the point of manufacturing. Moreover, upgrad...

Wow, congrads on your TP25 ;) Think of the TP25 as a T470 (which it was based upon), and read up on T470 hands on review especially regarding charging your laptop. Agree, RAM should be user upgradable. This is the single *BEST* way to future-proof your computer for the future 5+ years down the road, especially when RAM prices come down as Thinkpad4by3 said. (OK, user replacable SSD/HDD also very useful too). For example: We bought X1 Carbon 3rd Generation (X1C...
