Production years of T42?
Does anyone know until when the T42 was built? According to information I found on the net, it was launched sometime in mid-2004, but couldn't find out when IBM stopped the production.

I have exactly the same problem with my X31.
I would too be interested to know which capacitor you swapped out. A picture would be fantastic.

Re: Lenovo limits warranty on Outlet purchases to one year...
Last Friday (13rd), I sent an email to Lenovo Outlet Contact regarding the warranty extension for Outlet products. Here's the reply I got a few minutes ago: Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the makers of ThinkPad and ThinkCentre products. You can purchase a one or two year maintenance...

No Office 2003, but still patches via Windows Update.
I have upgraded from Office 2003 Pro to Office 2007 Pro recently. All software were upgraded except for Infopath 2003, which is not included in Office 2007 Pro. Today, I got a notification about available security patches and updates. There were 4 patches in total, one was the newest version of Wind...

Hey Stuart, I don't have a specific brand to recommend, any brand will do the job these days. Get a DVD burner with DVD-RAM writing feature. This is especially nice, since you can format a DVD-RAM media and drag-and-drop files from the harddrive to the disc as if you would copy files between two har...

hey, you get a German keyboard for the higher price. This must be worth something to you . Hehe... I had ordered my X31 from the US back in 2003. Of course it came with US layout and I bought a german keyboard from a dealer here in Germany. You know, with the current exchange rate, I could fl...

dietpepsiaddict , many people on this forum prefer 4:3 screens but I've never seen anyone as strongly against widescreens as you. Would you elaborate on why you hate widescreens so much? Have you tried getting used to them? I feel comfortable using both types of screens, although for desktop LCDs, ...

Incredible Euro / Dollar rate
Today Euro hit the $1.60 mark, probably an all-time high. Some of you may already know, but Thinkpad prices are simply ridiculous in Germany. To give you an idea, just take the US prices, replace the $ sign with EUR and there you have the retail prices of a Thinkpad here. Yes, we are talking about a...

Thanks for taking the time to test it and post here.richk wrote:Up to 3GB was fine. Finally, after I figured out the problem, I gave up and went back to 32-bit.
I was playing with the idea to go with 64-bit just for the 4GB RAM, but what you have posted above doesn't sound good at all.
Again, thanks.

I am a happy owner of a 5 yrs old X31 and I still love it. After purchasing it, I replaced the HDD with a 7200rpm one and installed 2GB memory. Compared to the 4200rpm HDD that came on the machine, the new HDD made a huge difference. The only down side is the limited amount of VGA memory (16mb), I w...

Hello, after upgrading from 1.41 to 1.43, my Power Manager application is gone :? Hi andyP, thanks for your feedback. I wouldn't be worried if it was a regular shut down procedure. But in my case, it just cuts the power. After pushing Fn+F4 and the "Preparing to Standby" message appears, the screen goes blank, the HDD light flashes for a short time and at the moment, where the mo...
