Re: Looks like a ThinkPad but Smaller.
I have always found little machines like those to be intriguing. They are very cute, but then I start wondering to myself how any work would actually be done on theme. For my tastes (which may differ from others), anything smaller than an X200/220/230 seems to be more niche than useful for productio...

They've been trying this for years. That being said - "Never let a crisis go to waste." This is the perfect opportunity to try this. I am hoping (like others) that it won't succeed, but given the general apathy and ignorance displayed by my fellow Citizen Comrades, I am pretty sure it will. Or a var...

I like those.
I took a quick look-see through your gallery.
I really like this one -

And the pic of your old Razor. I had one of those in blue. I loved that phone so much.

Re: T430: Any disadvantage to using mSATA SSD besides slightly slower OS launch?
My T430s has a 250GB 850 EVO in the mSATA slot and a 128GB Lenovo SSD in the 2.5" bay. I have Windows 10 Enterprise on the EVO and Bunsen Labs linux on the 128GB drive. I don't see any performance difference wrt to file accesss times between the 2 drives. That being said, I only used the EVO because...

People like to harp on Vista and that's because when it launched it made their PC's run like crap because it exposed their weak bargain basement hardware. Personally, I like Vista very much. When it came out I had it running on a dual core Pentium D with 3GB of DDR400 and a 256MB PCI-E Radeon X800 c...

I had a T410 that I sold to my co-worked. He also has a T410 that he sold to his friend when he got mine because mine had slightly better specs. Wonderful machines with 8GB and an SSD. I hope yours serves you well OP.

It's the OS as far as I can tell. Doesn't happen when I am booted into linux. EDIT: Took a look to see what Lenovo stuff I have installed. Just service bridge and system update. I wish Animal Farm was still required reading in schools. Everyone is equal, just some are more equal. Very true. Some people are smarter, some are stronger, some are quicker, some are more empathetic and so on. Not everyone is cut from the same cloth. Funny that. You read Animal Farm and took away...

Full charge battery alarm on T430s
So I really love my new laptop (still adjusting to the keyboard).
That being said, one thing that really annoys me is that Windows 10 does this irritating alarm telling me my battery is full. How do I disable that?
Thanks.

Is this an auction or sale you're looking at? It looks to me like parts were changed out. Maybe the original owner didn't want to send the machine into the depot for warranty work. (I assume). Speaking of warranty is it a depot only warranty or an on-site warranty? Either way, I'd be cautious about ...

I'm curious to know what you didn't like aesthetically in the T440s. There's a few things about the aesthetics of the T440s that I don't like. Here's a side view of it. It looks like it doesn't have the clamshell design which I like. Also the trackpad has no separate physical buttons. If I wanted a...

I could have picked up a T440s for roughly the same price, but I don't care for the aesthetics of the machine. If I'm going to be using a machine as my daily driver and its not company issue, I want it to look good.
I hope the one you got works out well for you.

New T430s has landed! (2 small linked thumbnails)
Got my "new" laptop yesterday. :) I bought it on e-bay for $223. Specs as shipped: 1600x900 LCD Core i5 3320M CPU 4GB DDR 3 2.5" 128GB SSD (Samsung OEM) Fingerprint Reader AC Adapter Battery (Says 81++ on it) has 37160mWh remaining. Design capacity was 43290mWh. My goal is to get ESXI 6.5 installed ESXi is fun. I have it running on my home server. So I don't know where your level of experience is. That being said it becomes the host OS and you can't login to it locally. You'll need to either open it's management IP in your browser (ex: 192.168.1.20/ui) and...

I did the retrofit to a couple of T430 and X230 and as far as I remember only the CapsLock LED doesn't work. Design-wise, the T430s cannot compete against the X301, I'm curious to see the outcome of your experiment  No caps lock LED is not a deal breaker but also isn't purely 100% compatible....

Funnily enough, a few months ago I pulled out my X301 that I bought from here and re-installed my SSD into it. I have since fallen totally in love with the machine. I did purchase a T430s from e-bay which I am somewhat looking forward to. (More on that later). But in terms of lightness, this machine...

T430s are nice machines. Don't forget you can retrofit a 7 row keyboard rather easily, and of course do the famous FHD Mod! CPU wise, IMO you should expect a good performance increase compared to the old Core2Duo SU9x000 generation. Thanks, I was already aware of those 2 mods. But the KB mod...

Might I suggest that if you want to re-use a computrace HDD the following: 1. Wipe it with Dban 2. Wipe it with Linux 3. Wipe it with Dban again 4. Reload the OS and see if computrace it still there. If so I can only advise to either use the HDD as a non-OS drive (i.e. - external drive in a carrier)...

I used to use EaseUS for cloning partitions, but they install a lot of other tools of theirs I don't want.
Macrium reflect (free) so far has been perfect for me the few times I've cloned a disk for people. Being in IT, we usually just wipe and reload.

I just bought a T430s off e-bay. i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD, 1600x900, etc. $189+shipping. The seller had a ton of them as well as a good feedback history. It should arrive next week. I'm both looking forward to it and having some buyers remorse. You see I really, really love my X301. But it's CPU is a tad ...
