T60 vs Macbook

I currently own a T42, and I love it more than any computer I've ever used. Unfortunately, it's beginning to show its age, so I'm in the market for something faster. I'll admit to having an unreasonable attachment to IBM: I love the look, the feel and the prestige behind the computers. But if the sw...

There may not be now, but I imagine the difference will be more than negligible once the Merom cores drop. Also, I hear the defect rate has risen from 5 to 20% since the Lenovo purchase. Is this true?

Upgrading T43 to T60

Ok...this may sound pathetic, but I love the T42's chassis. I was looking at the T60 in a store and I didn't like it near as much. So, I want to know how far I can modify my current system (or if I can buy an empty T42 chassis) to T60 specs. Can I upgrade the cpu when the merom cores come out? Can I...

The FRU# on the drive is 39T2507. I meant that I could find a record of the drive on the lenovo site anymore.

I can't find the fru# from the website, but it's Panasonic UJ-822B. Writes DVD -R/+R/-RW/+RW/RAM/ROM. No dual layer unless there's a firmware upgrade I'm unaware of.

F/S: T4x CD-RW & DVD multiburner drives

Sorry, it seems like my first post was pretty confusing. I'll try to make this one more clear.

24x/24x/24x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo II Ultrabay Slim Drive - $120

DVD+/- R/RW Ultrabay Slim Drive - $200

Prices negotiable. Located in CA.

I'm located in California. And I'll revise the inventory:

Cd-rw/dvd - $170

dvd multiburner slim - $200

I'm more than willing to negotiate the price, I just listed these because they seemed fair for these unused parts.

Do yourself a favor and wait for Merom. Much faster, cooler, longer battery life; a -true- desktop replacement in thin & light form factor. Even if you don't want merom, snatch a T60 on rebate once Merom comes out. Interim technology like the first gen core duos always go for a steal since there's n...

Access Connections stalling my startup

I love Access Connections, but 4.11 is a piece of garbage when it comes to integration. I switched from Intel's connection manager to AC and my startup time increased from about 20 secs to three minutes. It sounds picky, but I think I paid enough for the machine to expect IBMs own software to behave...

Are you really surprised? A quick browse around these forums shows the Thinkpad user as a peculiar animal, often unwilling to even fathom an unnecessary system upgrade when his T23 or 770 is still plugging away just fine. However, most of the Mac votaries I've encountered (and this is a lot, being i...

Screen Flicker

When I try installing either the Omega drivers or the modded catalysts it creates a screen flicker after one or two reboots. Could this have to do with some internal conflict that I can fix with a fresh installation, or should is it a hardware issue?

Chicony vs Thai

My machine came with the Chicony and I was happy with it, but then I came here and saw the overwhelming preference for the Thai model. So, gullible fool that I am, I ordered the Thai. Short story shorter, I really prefer the Chinese model. It feels tighter, more responsive, and it registers every st...
