I am having the exact problem with the exact same solution (on a T60). I do not think I've always had it, so I wonder if it is related to a settings change or a software update. Please share if you sort it out.

Just a followup:
Got my travel bezel from Compu-Lock. As mentioned by others, it is beveled at the bottom, so it has a small gap, rather than sitting completely flush. Really, though, you'd probably never notice. Now, my T60 is almost lightweight enough to resemble my old faithful 570.

I just ordered a T40 bezel from Compu-Lock. They confirmed the order, but no confirmation of shipping yet. I'll let you know how it works in my T60 (if I get it...).

I have the Indigo IO version of the card, which does recording. Not only does it sound great, it does a very nice job with tranfers from my vinyl to digital.

One solution you might try is to make sure the WLAN driver is enabled under your Wireless Network Connection settings. I think this is why uninstallation and reinstallation of the wireless drivers works - because the WLAN driver is installed and enabled. I was going around in circles until I realize...

FWIW, a repair vendor my department uses reported problems with overheating in 7200rpm drives leading to drive failure. It spooked me enough to order a 160GB 5400rpm drive with my new T60. I do find that my Hitachi 5400rpm drive already generates quite a bit of heat in my TP570.

That's odd; I just ordered (via our IT folks 1-2 days ago) a T60 directly through Lenovo with a Core 2 Duo and 14.1" non-widescreen display.

Thinkpad 570 awfully warm

Hello. I have a Thinkpad 570, PII 366 MHz, 320MB RAM, 7200 rpm HD, running Windows 2000. Mobmeter says the temperature usually doesn't go over 50C, but the far left part of the laptop (around where the power cord plugs in) gets uncomfortably warm. This happens even when the laptop is sitting idle. I...
