kinsigton not fitting in T42 security slot

Hi; I ordered a Kensigton MicroSaver security cable from www.dell.com I thought the Kensington was suppose to fit the T42. My model is specifically the T42 2373-9XU. I doubt that makes any difference though. It's the normal keylocking Kensington Microsaver. It looks like it would fit if the two bars...

somewhat of a noob suggestion here ... there should also be a spot for people to talk about sources to view/buy thinkpads. In particular Bill, I ended up buying from him but was a bit leary of it at first, it might help BIll reel in some customers too if there was an area to talk about buying experi...

wow ... you must rack up the frequent flyer miles. From the post a couple back about paying for form and having everything compacted into a small notebook ... I agree to a certain extent. My point was about things like buring DVD's that most will do very rarely, unless your backing up constantly. Yo...

this is an un-deucated response and I'll try and verify this ina bit when I have some time but I don't think the DVD burner will burn at 16x. I think it 2x ... maybe 4x maximum. Even big external players just came out with the capability to burn at 16x. Most of them are still 8x edit: my mistake I j...

you can phone the IBM sales line and tell them you want to see itbefore you buy it. They will refer you to an IBM business partner (someone kind of like Bill I believe) who sells to businesses in your area. They gave me the name of three distributors in Edmonton. These are not normal retail chains (...

I was also trying to decide between 2 of the models you're looking at. The 2373-9xu and the 2373-9zu. It is $140 dollar difference between the two and as you know the only diference is the dvd burner. For that $140 dollars you can get a much better external burner. Unless you need to write dvd's whi...

a couple of people have had success phoning IBM service and asking the battery be replaced with the sony one. Apparantly they ship you the new battery and give you a prepaid box to ship the other one back in. I would try this if I was you?

according to the review at pcworld.com it seemed like many of the features on system mechanic and other suites were already included in xp and worked just as well on xp, the ones that weren't (rapid restore recue/recover type functions) are icluded on IBM. It's been a week or so since I posted this thread. In that time I hae been reading online reviews and trying to learn as much about it as I can. Basically in terms of internet security; Firewall - Zone Alarm Pro 4.5 (includes pop-up blocker/cookie cleaner) Anti-virus - Norton Spyware - Adaware 6.0 a...

I don't have my t42 yet but just out of curiosity if you listen top music that often off your computer and it is ab "important factor" in buying a computer to you, why wouldn't you just spend some money on external speakers. way better than any notebook speakers even reasonably priced ones.

There is certainly a computer out there with those specs. What is your price range? Also just for reference the onyl hardrive that comes at 7200 is the 60 GB one. Here is one example of something that fits your specs though it is very expensive and most likely overkill for what your looking for. htt...

Here is one idea. It is made for powerbooks but since the T series 14 inch is smaller in every way it would fit in there. Scroll down to the brown and black leather ones as I think they're probably the best for a low key look. Some of them are pretty out there. http://www.acmemade.com/bags.html EDIT...

bluetooth and your battery life on t-series

Hi,

The t-series I am ordering has bluetooth so I was thinking about getting a bluetooth notebook travel mouse. However if it is a big draw on battery life then I would probably just use trackpoint or the touch pad. Also would the battery draw be any more than a USB wireless mouse? Thanks
