Re: T480 battery questions
dr_st is right, 61++ means 72Wh and 61+ 48Wh. No reason to go with 61+ (slightly lighter I think). Regarding the internal battery, mine is made by SMP and it seems to be in a pretty bad shape, only 16Wh full charge capacity after half a year and 11 cycles. Got my 61++ LGC battery two months ago, hav...

I've upgraded from my Surface Pro 2 to a Surface Pro 4; bigger (12.3" 3:2 vs. 10.6" 16:9), slimmer, lighter, fanless (got the m3 model), much better keyboard, it's awesome, I love it.

I would not mix different size modules on T400, they are prone to this kind of visual corruption: https://support.lenovo.com/ro/en/documents/ht001223 Type B visual corruption is a permanent limitation of the Intel chipset. There exists the following three options to work around this issue. Option 1:...

Also you could do a test and log it with HWiNFO64; start logging, start Prime95 and after a minute or so start Furmark too. And don't forget, the NVidia Quadro 2000M has a 55W TDP so is a pretty hungry GPU. As GACrabill said before, check your TPFC settings; here's my TPFC setup (smart mode 1): Leve...

I couldn't say which is the best ThinkPad of all times, reducing my experience to the models I owned and really used (all of them listed in my signature), but from what I've owned, I liked/loved the most the 600X, the T41 and the T420s. Maybe the T420s just a little bit more, even our relation is ov...

Both my T420s and T430 work with aCrucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 module, combined with a 4GB DDR3-1600 1.5v module, no problems so far.

Re: What is the optimum life status about battery on used t420s?
That's the info displayed in the basic mode, not advanced, I think. What price you've been asked for? And what configuration? They're selling here (Romania) for ~250 euro, and the T430s for ~350. Another thing - the T420s with integrated graphics might be affected by this hardware issue so better go...

Re: What is the optimum life status about battery on used t420s?
The T420s' battery is rated 44Wh, you'll get about 3h+ under the moderate usage. You can use Lenovo Power Manager (advanced>battery information) to see how much wear it has (cycles, actual capacity). Mine (Panasonic), after 4 years and less than 50 cycles is at 27Wh. If you want a cheap ultrabay bat...

Is data roaming active for the SIM you're using with your X1C? Also, I remember there are some settings like "allow roaming"/"connect automatically except roaming", I'd check for these too.

I see the fan is not at full speed, I'm wondering if the throttling would be a bit smaller with the fan at level 64 / 5600rpm or not.

T440 misses the physical trackpoint buttons, if this part doesn't bother you then it's a good laptop, the price is also good. Hope you got HD+ resolution.

Another thing, I think there is a BIOS setting regarding display's brightness, try to change it, maybe it's worth a shot.

Probably it's PWM dimming related; rise the brightness at 100% and see if it's better, and then try various brightness levels.

You make it sound bad as Murdoch's newspapers do.
I once asked Rupert Murdoch why he was so opposed to the European Union. “That’s easy,” he replied. “When I go into Downing Street they do what I say; when I go to Brussels they take no notice.”
