Do you know of any documentation online from IBM that demonstrates this behaviour that power-on passwords should be alpha numeric and supervisor passwords should allow other characters. Since I have removed my backup battery and still get the password request at boot, the password is a supervisor pa...

I'm the first owner, and it is I who has set the password. I still feel kind of sure that I have used the same password through my entire system, and that IBMs finger sensor password thingie is faulty. Isn't it strange that the icon that pops up is a power-on password icon? And shouldn't the Supervi...

Hey, Can't get into BIOS either, the same password message appears when I try that. I'v completely given up hope on this. Right now, I feel like throwing the computer in the trash and forget all about having it, I don't have time messing around. Cost me about $2000 for 5 months with it. Big bang for...

Removed backup battery, power-on password still there.

Hi, Something very not so nice has happened to my X41. It does not accept the characters in my power-on-password at boot time. This is the scenario: 1. In WindowsXP, I create a new Administrator-user, enrolls new fingerprints and remove the fingerprints for the old administrator-user. I also enter t...

Turn off pc speaker on X41

Hi, Is there a way to turn of the pc speaker "beep" on the x41? Or maybe lower the volume? The X41 does not have any volume keys on the keyboard =(. The "beep volume" does not get affected when I lower the sound volume in Windows, allthough it does get muted when I mute all sounds. But that is not a...
