Re: X230 battery replacement - how to make sure I have the correct battery?

It's far simpler and has been known for a while. These are completely "fake" batteries in the sense that they are not manufactured in any way affiliated with Lenovo. With today's printing and 3D Printing technology it's not hard to manufacture battery case, and labels. So they produce a label that l...

Re: Is the x220 worth getting in 2018?

It's also possible to modify the X220 or X230 to have a 1080p IPS display, although you will have to spend more money for this. Yes, but in addition to spending money, that mod requires non-trivial tinkering (soldering/taping pins), and imposes certain restrictions which cannot be lifted due to the...

Re: Giving back x240 after week, is x250 will be better?

The X250 added back physical trackpoint buttons because like you many people hated the buttonless version.

It should be possible to retrofit the X250 touchpad with the trackpoint buttons onto the X240. At least with T series it's possible.

WPA2, not WPA2... Most routers with WPA2 capability also support WPA; the biggest problem with the 2100B is the 802.11b speed (11mbps vs 54mbps on 802.11g and 150mbps+ on 802.11n).

Re: T430 BIOS update

It's a load of bull, end of story. Any BIOS update has a chance of bricking the laptop if somehow the update locks up / loses power in the middle of the critical flash process. But you really think that there would exist a laptop model out there for which every BIOS update is guaranteed to brick the...

Because I simply have to trust someone , I'd always trust Microsoft more than Google. The newer models (X240 and later) with low voltage CPUs probably run cooler than X220/X230.

Google doesn't tell you who is better, only who paid the most to be listed first. That's not true. Google's indexing algorithms generally do work better than other search engines' algorithms. An interesting observation: Google Corp. produced from scratch only two awesome products: Google Search and...

It is known that on this generation of Thinkpads, Firefox specifically (and a few other programs) need custom entries in the trackpoint configuration files to get scrolling to work.

Having made 'just' a T470 with a nicer keyboard, it seems a bit weird they didn't do a followup T480 or T480s variant, seems like low risk and quite easy to do ? One model a year with the (new) old keyboard would've been nice. IMO that's exactly what the users should try to get through to Lenovo ex...

Seconded. With Middleton BIOS, SATA2 capability unlocked, 8GB RAM, SSD and Windows 7 - these machines can have quite a bit useful life left in them. :)

This is generally enough. It means it's a LP125WH2(SL)(B3).

In any case, I would investigate the cable as a possible cause of problems.

This is not exact enough. There are different FRUs, and panel models. Everest/Aida64 will show you the exact panel type.

In any case, could it be a problem with the LCD cable? I recall it's not part of the LCD assembly.

With that said, his original assumption (even if it turned out wrong in this case), is not impossible. I have certainly heard of hardware bugs where sensitive control bits (with the potential of bricking the hardware when a wrong configuration is selected) were exposed via unprotected memory regions.
