Re: Decision: T60p UXGA vs. X61s

If you use the machines docked, with external peripherals most of the time, then issues like mobility, size, weight, battery life, internal display quality may be irrelevant. With that said: X61 can only output to a single external display, VGA only; T60p allows you to have two external displays (DV...

Re: Microsoft with real Windows Classic for 10

The quality and consistency differences between the generally excellent Windows kernel core and the generally "so-so" UI has been there, seemingly since the earliest NT builds. It's worrisome if the discrepancy is getting worse instead of better.

Re: T520 battery in T530

The *30 series introduced new batteries with special chip to enable fast-charging. The *30 firmware will not charge a *20 battery (although it will run off it).

The same EC mod that allows a classic keyboard to be used can also be utilized to disable this check, and allow *20 batteries to be charged.

Assuming you already have the bootable ISO with the BIOS image, you launch the application and it's rather straightforward. I believe the website even has a tutorial.

Yes, there are several tools that can make a bootable USB from a bootable CD (ISO) image. Rufus is one such tool.

Did Lenovo quit making large docks for ThinkPads T410 and newer? Yes. I like the large docks as it gave lots of extra ports plus a extra drive bay and better a PCIe slot. I been looking to get a graphics card for mine as this website shows "Looks like a Russian website" . http://www.retropcmania.co...

I doubt you represent a large enough customer base for them to care about. By now, I would bet there are more people out there that actively prefer the new UI, because this is what they are used to. Making a different UI isn't a one-time-thing, you have to constantly maintain it as well, which is an...

Re: Obtained a G50, what is this thing?

- Put a 125GB HD. Next step would be a SSD, but XP does not support SSD, you need a SSD with firmware to do "garbage collection." I think this is the 'trim' function in Win7. It's not like XP won't benefit greatly from an SSD. It would not be operating at peak efficiency without garbage collection,...

Re: T410s plastics cracking

My recently returned T410 (non-s) had small cracks in both corners of the palmrest. My X220 is fine, but many of them had experienced similar cracks on the left above the ExpressCard spot (weak spot due to design flaw) or the plastic strip at the top (front) of the lid would break off. The plastics ...

Ok, for Mini HDMI to DVI, depending on what you are doing there is something called HDCP which is an encrypted video signal. This is not supported through DVI and giving a DVI monitor an HDCP encrypted signal will make it do nothing. Now this shouldn't happen in theory but you never know. Most devi...

According to this, the pronunciation of β was changed from sounding like an English 'B' in Ancient Greek to sounding like English 'V' in Modern Greek. Thus we established that there is at least one historical process which is unrelated to the Western civilization's gallop towards suicide.

Re: will new keyboard solve my T410 woes?

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your incident. Plugging in a USB mouse does not disable the internal one, so if it is causing problems due to residual moisture, it is still likely to interfere. What you can try is to disable the trackpoint completely in the BIOS, and seeing if the USB mous...

I don't know if ME actually crashed more than 98SE, because I did not use it at the time... Nowadays it does not seem to be the case; however, it's possible that, like Vista, WinME was bad at first, and greatly improved later, after people already stopped caring.

The October 2018 Update tried to tidy up this situation. When KFR is being used, the October 2018 Update will delete the original, default Known Folder locations. Microsoft imagined that this would simply remove some empty, redundant directories from your user profile. No need to have a Documents d...

YouTube is a bigger task on a C2D than you might think.
I would add that YouTube has gotten to be a bigger task on a C2D than it used to be. ;)
