Re: My experience with IPS panels, from T60 through x220/230 until the T460

Wow, that is a string of bad experiences. :( I do feel your run with IPS panels is worse than that of the average Thinkpadder. I have had IPS panels on my: T42 - LG SXGA+ IPS replaced due to white spot 2.5 years into the warranty; new screen had no issues. Eventually developed normal brightness loss...

Re: Thinkpad USB 2.0 Port Replicator Windows 10 issue

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)

Did you try manually installing the driver for the port replicator? You can get it from this page:
https://support.lenovo.com/il/en/solutions/migr-76983

It does not indicate Win10 support, but sometimes Win10 can accept Win8 drivers.

In Windows 10 you need to have the Lenovo Settings application installed (you can get it from the Windows store). There, in the 'Battery Settings', you can scroll down to find 'Battery Gauge Reset'.

I don't think it's fair to blame the processor. It may be old but to me the real issue is that you only have 768MB RAM. YouTube by itself will take around 512MB. RAM has nothing to do with it. These tasks are clearly CPU bound. My T23 has 1GB RAM and Firefox ESR 45 (I have two IBM factory drives, c...

Re: So Who Actually Ordered?

The actual ThinkPad laptop keyboard is just the "American" keyboard, with rectangular Enter/Shift/Backspace keys. Also, ordering this for way 10+ years always gave me a 100% "American" keyboard (the same one on Lenovo/ThinkPad URL link as below). Yes, I figured as much from looking at the keyboard ...

I believe that it is just the same (American) keyboard, same as photos all over the internet, no difference. There was a closeup shot of the [Enter]/[Backspace]/[Shift] keys, same rectangular shape as other internet web TP25 pictures. Honestly, with TP25 going down the "no customization" route, I d...

It should work. 2 displays handled by the HD graphics, 2 displays handled by the USB 3.0 graphics. The USB dock is its own video device, the Intel graphics is not involved.

Re: Thinkpadders, do NOT Rejoice, WEEP and/or DESPAIR!

Someday someone might update the T23 with modern innards and call it "T24". Things would get extremely confusing if the Thinkpad 25 is called T25. "TP25" is a much more future-proof name. If "WQHD" bothers you (because it should be "QHD"), "T25" should bother you more. Many people at Lenovo probabl...

HP ProDisplay P17A
HP ProDisplay P19A

All are 1280x1024.
Nice. P17A and P19A are actually TN, according to specs. The others are indeed IPS, including the P1917s (successor of P1914s).

Surprised that it says "largest free upper memory block = 25kb", yet still loads a whole lot of smaller stuff into conventional memory. I guess maybe the PCMCIA drivers themselves do not support being loaded into high memory? What if you try the DEVICEHIGH and LOADHIGH without /L and /S switches? Do...

A friend of mine made a great observation this week; 4:3 monitors (17" and 20") are still available, and aren't that expensive. I may look into hooking my X230 into one of these. Better yet - a 24" WUXGA. Same vertical space, more horizontal space, and if you insist on 4:3, you can always letterbox...

Intel knows how to make a GPU. No matter how much faster the nVidia is, we all know it will have some issue from drivers to internal stress fractures. It's nVidia.
For certain activities (not just games) - it really does matter.

Intel's drivers can also be a pain in the neck sometimes.

The problem with those machines, whether you consider it as an upside or downside, is the fact that they don't come with a trackpad and most ppl today don't know how to use Trackpoint (and yes, I prefer Trackpoint any time). The upside would be the fact that no one else would touch your computer, a...

Batteries are usually a hit-n-miss.

What are the FRUs and the manufacturers of your batteries?

Try running a battery gauge reset. It may be reading wrong and you can get it to update to a correct capacity which can be slightly higher (but don't expect miraces).

I read about it a bit just now, and my understanding that it is not by design. The external should discharge first. Lenovo ThinkPad 25 – Missed Opportunity? Yes, a lot of nice things there. They really should just work on a Rev. 2 motherboard, with a 4-lane eDP connector and a quad-core ULV, then offer a choice between FHD and QHD panels, and also make touchscreen optional. Which nVidia GPU they use is less impo...

You're certainly correct. However, the T23 seems to have been built with much more durability than the T4x series. I also own a T40 and T41. The T40 failed earlier this year due to chassis flex. I expect the same to eventually happen with the T41. Since I don't use the T41 that often, it could stil...

It probably can be modded the 420/430 way, using 4-lane Dp from the docking port. Depends if the docking port uses through hole or smd mounting. If if it is SMD, were screwed. Also - this generation, AFAIK, only sends a single DP out through the docking port (the Ultra Dock uses a DP MST hub to spl...

Re: Thinkpadders, do NOT Rejoice, WEEP and/or DESPAIR!

From what I could see - it uses the same eDP connector as the T470, which is different from the T470s/T470p. And from what I know, that eDP is 2-lane and cannot support QHD resolutions. So there is no easy way to fit a QHD panel there.

First of all, can we stop calling this "T25"? It's not a continuation of the T20/21/22/23 series. Call it TP25, for "Thinkpad 25".
