T14 is the successor of T480/490 series.
T15 is the successor of T580/590 series.

This is a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, not plain USB!
Originally it was P/N 4X90S91831, which has been replaced by P/N 4X90Q84427
Looks like this.
That's not USB-C either. It's Lenovo's proprietary connector that goes directly to the integrated Intel LAN chip on the motherboard.

Re: T43 recovery

That depends on what recovery partition it is. These drives originally came with T43/R52 units - so this is probably what it will match. T40/41/42/R50/51 are a bit different. That's assuming the original owner did not change it.

Re: Screen Right Side Lights Up when Off

I have to do online banking. I just heard so many people say W7 is not secure anymore. Many people don't really understand security and just repeat what they heard. And what they repeat is some weird assumption that as soon as Microsoft EOLs security updates for a OS, it immediately becomes unsecur...

Although I have an Ethernet jack on all my laptops, I almost never use them, except when docked, and even then - not always. WiFi is everywhere. But yes, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter is a good solution too.

Those speeds look fine. Spinning drives have been around the 200MB/s mark for sequential access for some time, but random access is terrible. Windows 10 is optimized for SSDs, not spinning drives. It will always perform poorly on rotational media.

There exist some T570 with the 4K screen. To know exactly what the unit has, you could ask the seller for the model number. It will be of the format 20XXYYYY**. Then, assuming the seller has not changed any of the original parts, you could look it up in the PSREF table: https://psref.lenovo.com/Full...

Re: Hard-Disk Drive (H.D.D. or S.S.D.) Larger than 2TB on ThinkPad W500 Laptop

Drives over 2TB require GPT partitioning. Windows only supports booting from GPT partitions on a UEFI BIOS, and W500 does not have a UEFI BIOS. A workaround exists where the bootloader is placed on a second, MBR-formatted drive which then transfers control to the GPT-formatted main partition: http:/...

You would not be able to boot from a >2TB drive, but as a secondary drive (e.g., in the Ultrabay) it should work.

Well, I'm by no means an expert when it comes to these things, but it looks like there is a lot of dirt and possibly damaged traces on the top left corner of the black thingy (chip? capacitor?) If the black thingy itself is undamaged, then the next steps I would suggest are: 1. Thoroughly clean that...

Welcome to the forum, Gonzalo. Possibly the charging circuit in the machine is bad?

If you can get access to another T400/T61 14" wide machine you could check the batteries in that system.

You'd need to use the Remote Assistance application instead, or go with a third party remote access tool like ScreenConnect or Splashtop.
Other possible solutions are TeamViewer or a VNC server.

I'm using the Thinkpad Power Manager (ver 3.45), with the Energy Saver power plan. Under the "Battery" tab, "Battery Maintenance", there are three charge threshold options: 1) Always fully charge; 2) Optimize for battery lifespan; 3) Custom (which I normally use).
I meant to try option (1).
