Re: Windows 7 not activating AUG-2021

I got it working. It turns out the 8 in the key was a B. I hated these Microsoft stickers after Windows XP. All the Windows Vista and 7 and some late XP stickers were just plain paper stickers and would fade or get ruined over time. I loved the Windows 95-Windows XP laminated keys. Yes, known probl...

Older Intel graphics.

Already on Ivy Bridge (**30 generation) it sorta became possible to get 3 screens with Intel GPU, but only under specific conditions. The conditions got more relaxed with subsequent generations.

Welcome to the forum. :) Indeed the recommendation is to use a stronger PSU (at least 135W) for Quad Core CPU + nVidia, although I am not certain an underpowered PSU would lead to these exact symptoms.

Rubber domes: Red = NMB, White = Alps, Grey = Chicony
The above applies to KBs of that era (T4x/T6x/xx00-xx20).
Probably only to x00-x20. The NMB rubber domes on 4x/6x keyboards are blue.

Welcome to the forum. :)

If the battery is physically deformed, but electrically is fine, the automated diagnostics tools will not pick it up. You'll have to open the case and see. It could be something simple as a misrouted wire or a loose/broken clip.

1. T420s can't have normal 9mm SSD. Doesn't sound as big deal until it hits you. Even the X series of that time didn't have this requirement. I think they did. X220 has 7mm requirement as I remember, though you can still force 9mm drives in it if you give up on the rubber rails. This doesn't work w...

It's indeed about the year Win 10 support from MS or the major software vendors ends. It will most certainly be an MS's action to put hardware into waste heap then. Even with this I don't fully agree. The "end of support" does not mean your OS stops working. It just means you stop receiving securit...

What about the drive's firmware? Sometimes updates resolve compatibility issues between drives and specific chipsets. You can try running the Intel utility to search for firmware updates while it's connected to a different PC.

The first one in the set of ISO images should be a bootable R&R disk. When you run the recovery from those CDs/DVDs, the state of your hard drive should not matter - it will wipe all partitions and recreate them from scratch.
