Re: "Time travel tools" The 2001 IBM ThinkPad T22 (25+ photos)

Yes I've had that experience with mine before, though I feel like it depreciates much much faster if you keep draining it below 10% or so. I'm not sure if it actually depreciates faster, or if draining it below 10% just forces it to recalibrate the gauge . If you don't ever drain your battery under...

Very nice oldie and looks to be in great shape too!

Don't be surprised if the battery starts losing capacity fast. It's what usually happens to these really old, but seldom used Sanyo batteries - they start showing good capacity, but quickly deteriorate.

You understand that nitrocaster's mod is all about Full HD (1920x1080), right? X220/X230 can also come with stock IPS screens, but only HD (1366x768) resolution.

Probably so, but quite likely that a modded BIOS with a whitelist removal will be required (such BIOS does exist).

And then, the first time the reader malfunctions, get stuck without the ability to turn the machine on, and start frantically running around looking for a docking station (or disassemble the laptop to re-enable pin 19). Sounds like great planning to me. :D It also does not add anything in terms of s...

Re: Two external monitors with a non-Nvidia T420

2 external monitors will work as long as the internal display is disabled, no problem. If your monitors only have HDMI inputs, then what you said is a good way to go. You can also get a DVI-to-HDMI and a DisplayPort-to-HDMI and use one of the DisplayPorts on the Mini-Dock Plus, and one of the DVI ou...

The specs of the burner should give the definitive answer, but it's very rare to find a burner that can burn DVD+ but no DVD- (the other way around was more common at one time).

It's not 16:9, it's 8:5 (16:10).

And no, they don't. Some of them are partially compatible, some are totally different. Depending on which generation / chassis you are talking about.

I've removed power from the TP and held down the power button for a few seconds, battery still won't work. Windows still shows the same charge on the battery though.

Is the battery toast?
Most likely. I just had a similar kind of battery death this week (10-year old T60 battery).

LOL, you found a rare gem without realizing it.

The G50 is the Japan-only update to the G series, with the hardware equivalent to the *60 series. You should be able to update the CPU to any Core Duo, and if BIOS supports it, then even Core 2 Duo.

Congrats on your nice purchase! :thumbs-UP:

Well, today I've experienced the first downright failure of a battery in my sample set. The battery that failed is the T60 Sanyo 6-cell, which was approaching its 10th birthday. The failure has the well-known symptoms: battery light flashes orange, battery won't charge, and the Power Manager display...

As far as I'm aware the T25 is not available in the UK, don't know about Russia. It is not; Lenovo is still in "brain-fart, bang-head-against-wall-repeatedly" mode when it comes to this model.
