I was always thinking of doing the same thing when I had a couple 770's laying around.......The video and inverter cable are the only wires from the LCD to the base,and they look like common copper wire....I was just going to try extending the cables and see if that worked,but never got around to i...

It is not possible to connect the LCD screen directly to the VGA port alone (and work) as it only has VGA signals and the LCD also requires power for the backlight. As someone else suggested (in your duplicate thread) you might consider extending the cables (video and power) from the base to screen...

Let me see if I have this right - you want to turn the built-in LCD panel of this laptop as a "divorced" unit (as is in no longer physically connected to the rest of the machine except for the video signals and power)? Doesn't a 770 have a VGA port on the back for connecting an external monitor tha...

i want to detach the LCD from a 770 and attach it with a cable to the VGA port in the back of the 770E body.
I want to use the thinkpad for navigation and i want only the LCD to put in frond and the body of thinkpad under the seat
