For sale are 2 Viking RAM 256 MB , PC100, 16 chip SODIMMs. I found these under my keyboard lost and forgotten, one was supposed to go to the buyer of my old 600E thinkpad and the other was never claimed. Question, How do you manage to install 576mb of ram in it? Does it has a 600X mobo in it? 600E 32+256+256=544 600X 64+256+256=576 If it has a 600X mobo in it, does it has the mini pci covered, or you use a 600X base in it? I know too many questions. It *had* a 600E mobo that had PC100 4(16MB...

Haha that was from my old signature when I was a regular on the forums. They were Viking 16 chip units. PC100...darn good RAM I sold each already though. I couldn't believe how fast it was with the 576MB at 810Mhz, for a work computer you can't beat the 440BX AGPset. It feels faster than my 1.7Ghz t...

Cool I'll take it. Paypal?
I need it just for the fan because I'm tired of the 192 error on startup with my modified heasink setup. Hopefully it can move more CFM than the fan I set up.

Let me know how you want to do this, I'll do the regular usps parcil post. Thanks man

Try disabling the L2 Cache before you install the 400Mhz processor. do control-d to get into the hex editor in config in BIOS and change byte 20 to 0A.

I really don't believe that the problem is with IBM. Everything I have seen from hardware detection utilities points to the fact that the IBM 600E ideed has a AGP port built in and uses the NM2200 AGP version

The problem seems to be with the driver or HAL layer which I am still investigating.

Right now I'm using the fan that came with my evo 610c heatsink and it is running at 5v all the time which is killing my battery and louder than what I'm used to. Although the setup is still less noisy than some of the recent HPs dells and compaqs I am going to use the origanal 600E fan unit to cool...

My opinion is not to mess around with the 600 series heatsinks for better cooling. Here is what I have done: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/chris22184/DSC00610.jpg I am also installing a fan that will not only cool the huge copper heatsink but will also blow directly on the CPU core to lower...

hey00,

have you tried using Andrey Grushin's AGP_info, I can e-mail you a copy if you haven't. It sets lots of different features for the BX/ZX chipsets that are on the MMC-2 module. If I remember right it can change the speed to. Maybe that will have an effect

Interesting...so d3d is enabled but hardware acceleration isn't?
As for the AGP did you try using the INTEL chipset software installation utility? It installs .inf files needed.

what about directx 6?

Great please report your findings asap, I have wanted to do the same thing you are planning but I do not have access to windows 98 I only have windows 2000 and XP to work with. Yea 1.35V core works on the earlier MMC-2's but is not stable for the 750Mhz, 800Mhz, or the 850Mhz MMC-2 boards...the lowest stable vcore that work with thoughs is 1.48. That is done by removing R3 and R14 on the MMC-2 module. To get the 1.35V vcore that he is talking about you need to remove R5 on...

He means base 128 CMOS

Go into easy setup and click config...once you are in config hit control-d and it will open a hidden BIOS hex editor. I'm not sure what byte(s) controls harddisk though so you will have to experiment alittle.

After extensive research I have come to conclude that the Neomagic 256AV in the 600E in not even on the AGP bus. It actually resides on the systems PCI bus. The 600E using INTEL PCIset instead of the AGPset on the motherboard. This is where it gets confusing though because the MMC-2 module uses a AG...

The 192 is a fan error it has nothing to do with the L2 cache. Most cases the 192 error is caused by the fuse for the fan electronics being blown. Open up the thinkpad again and look for little blue fuses and check them with a multimeter for conductance. Why would the fuse blow? Well the 770 and 600...
