Mind taking a good, high quality recording, of both and comparing them to mine? Probably. some day - T43 isn't mine. Mine has now been on battery for two hours and has hovered around 38-41 degrees with the fan at Level 1 without having to use the Fan Control Utility. :D 34-35C at level 1 and w/o th...

2.) I have yet to see something conclusive about this "heat issue"; I can understand that certain models shipped have the fan problem. As of yet, however, I haven't been able to even feel the difference. Intel's site gives only the basic stats on the CPU and that isn't in a T4X Series machine, so i...

I did placed 14inch (XGA, 2378RGU) next to my 15inch (SXGA, 2378-kk2). And LCD differences are Huge. All the font in 15inch is much clear and viewing angle is a lot larger for the 15inch. Also 15inch is brighter thant 14inch. Of course, because of its resolution, 15inch has much more work spcaes. A...

from NBR review of T60: "I have the 9-cell battery with the T60 being reviewed. It adds a bit of weight over the standard 6-cell and sticks out but if you want close to 4 hours of battery life with the 15" screen model you'll need this size. In using the T60 without Wi-Fi and at medium brightness (3...

Very interesting, indeed...Not all that suprising since the T43 uses a different ATI card than the 7500 on the T42 and I imagine that there would be differences as well since, if I am not mistaken, the 7500 uses AGP and the x300 is on PCI Express. I don't know if the ATI PowerPlay feature has unifi...

An even bigger factor that one must consider with reviews is also user perception and preferences when qualitatively, not quantitatively, analyzing it. Everybody differs in many ways, so it is not much of a suprise that people can experience differnt things with something that, theoretically at lea...

At the end of the day I am slightly more negative, I suppose, because my expectations were so high... Plus the fan and heat issues seem to annoy me more than most. That's my impression as well. But I tend to think this is not IBM's fault, rather it's Intel who has released poor designed chipset. IM...

[censored] it Christopher...how is your machine staying so cool? My T43 (2668B1U) shoots up past 50 degC even at idle (i.e. NO apps running) I am using it on a glass table with plenty of ventilation. I wonder too. My root temperature is about 22C. and I couldn't get 2668-4DU lower 42C even ...

Re: sound recording
Maria, Then it would be a undisputable fact, and especially for the producer one more incentive to build quiet and cool Thinkpads. You would need a: good micro good soundcard (e.g. Audigy) reference recording of the "silence" in your environment good speakers and possibly a lossless audio compressi...

So, if I was to say, take out the 2gig cpu in it now pentium-m 760 (i think) 533mhz fsb 27w Thermal Design Power and replace it with a pentium-m 755 2gig cpu 400mhz fsb 21w Thermal Design Power, this should be possible? Ok, will be taking a kick with the 400mhz instead of 533mhz, but it should be a...

Anyway, if you sit back for a minute and think about it, it just makes "sense" that a processor running on a smaller process technology, with the same basic pipeline design as Dothan (with maybe 1-3 more stages), and lower voltage, will consume less power. What is a bit surprising, is that it is ef...

You can do this, but again I really don't know why you would want to. If power consumption and heat generation is really a concern, then install something like Notebook Hardware Control and undervolt the processor. That will give you longer battery life and lower heat generation. unfortunately, CPU...

So it's hotter ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_M : " TDP is also down to 21 watts (from 24.5 watts in Banias), though power use at lower clockspeeds has increased slightly. However, tests conducted by third party hardware review sites show that Banias and Dothan equipped notebooks have rough...

if you work form battery sometimes, I'd wait for approval that t60 is good in this regard. for example, take a look at this:

34W to watch DVD? it sucks, imho.

I haven't seen much of a difference between my T43 and my friend's T42; I have even managed to match the duration of the T42 on battery. probably you're right, but T42 is claimed to run upto 5h from 6c battery, while T43 - upto 4h. probably that's due to GPU ..Esben wrote:I doubt you will notice a difference in battery life at 800 MHz versus 600 MHz, if they both run 0.7v.
The CPU is not the major factor of power usage, at that low speed.
