Problem Solved
Well I eventually solved the problem described by myself earlier in this thread. It only took me nearly 2 years. Problems with hard disks for R Series Machines
Just as a matter of interest could you post the id of the disk that you have got to work - I'm curious - the one that I would desperately like to boot from is HTS726060M9AT00 - its a 60GB 7200 rpm with an IBM part number of 13N6799, although it has a sticker on it which says ASM P/N 13N6806, FRU P/N...

Disk problems with R Series machines
You may have the same problem that I have. I have an R52, about 6 months old, and I cannot get it to boot any genuine IBM disk other than the one that it came with. I'm convinced its an issue with the firmware associated with the harddrive but I cannot get any sense out of IBM/Lenovo on this - they ...
