I also noticed your left handed like me! Southpaws of the world, unite! Funny thing is, I'm sort-of pseudo-ambidextrous. As a kid, my father insisted I learn to throw with my right hand, which I do, to this day. But for just about everything else, I rely on my left hand. Do your parents know you've...

You have good taste man! Thanks! And you have a good eye! The iPAQ is indeed a 2200-series (iirc, it's an h2215 as far as HP's concerned, but the "15" is just for retail tracking). Also, the ZVM 30GB is indeed black within its Action Jacket. As for the Bawls, I picked it up mainly as a curiosity; t...

I actually took this a few weeks ago, when I first got the HP w2207h. Thus, that's my T40p in the photo, and not my newly-arrived (as in, three days ago) T42p.

I had no major difficulties installing Vista on my T40p. In fact, I've done the install about five times now, using both a pressed DVD from Microsoft, and the download-and-burn RC1 image. The FireGL 9000 doesn't have enough memory to deliver the full Aero Glass experience at SXGA+, but the basic UI ...

MS-DOS is deprecated in Windows NT/2000/XP. Current and late-model ThinkPads ship with Windows XP. You can find the "Command Prompt" under Accessories on the Start menu, but you'll need to be aware that it's a DOS emulator, and isn't 100% compatible.

The "hidden" partition is where the files used to restore/recover your system reside, in lieu of a recovery CD. If you want to access the partition, press the blue "Access IBM" button and begin the rescue and recover process. Can it be removed? Sure... reformat the hard drive (not that I'm advocatin...

I used to use a Fellowes Perfect Clean cloth with my old i Series. I just got my new T40p (Certified Used) on Thursday, and upon unpacking, spotted a mark from the Trackpoint cap on the screen... it's barely visible with the machine off, and utterly unnoticeable when it's on, but I do think I'll be ...

Well, I placed my order on Friday and got the invoice today from IBM, with notification that it should ship within 24 hours. I settled on a Certified Used T40p (2373-G1U) - 1.6Ghz/512/40GB/SXGA+/FireGL 9000/DVD-CDRW Combo/GbEther/WiFi/BT - "slightly imperfect" for $799. That's less than half what I ...

Well, I guess my first question would be "What do you plan on using it for?"
I've used my i Series as a pretty general-purpose machine; everything from basic office tasks to some web design and image editing... even some audio editing in Sound Forge.

UPD: Which way to go...T30 or T40 to replace i1200? Decided!

I'm looking to replace an i1200 (1161-71U) that's on its way out after a... clumsy moment back on Friday the 13th (optical drive flatlined, lid hinges cracked and looking sketchy). With the help of my tax refund, I can pretty definitely afford a Certified Used T30. I can probably pull together just ...
