Update:

Update: I just returned the drive and ordered a Seagate 40GB 5200RPM that was about the same price. I actually wish I had ordered the seagate in the first place as the warranty is longer and I've always used their drives. Hopefully this drive will not exhibit the same vibration issues, but maybe th...

Annoying Hard Disk Vibration under Palm Rests...

Hello all, I just upgraded the Hard Disk in my x30 to a Samsung 5400 rpm 40GB model (link if anyone is interested: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152501 ) While the Hard Disk is super-quiet as advertised, there is a LOT of vibration under my palm rests and even most of the k...

Which USB port was able to boot from the your USB CD-ROM, the right side or back port?

And did you hit F12 to select an 'alternate' boot device, or change in the BIOS via F1?

Thanks

Battery Case Indicators - What they mean

This may be obvious, but I am a first time ThinkPad owner and just wanted to confirm the following:

When the ThinkPad lid is closed:

Solid Green Battery = Full?

Flashing Green Battery = ??

Orange Battery = Charging?

Thanks,
Elliott

It wasn't exactly fast or easy, but this website describes how it can be accomplished w/out a CD or Floppy. And thanks for the info about the folder, I am going to give it a go with an old WIN98SE Disc and see what happens. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installation_on_ThinkPads_without_CD-ROM_drive...

Hello all, Maybe someone has run across this before, but I did a search and found nothing in the active forums. I have a WinXP Pro SP2 "Upgrade" Disc, that requires a previous version of windows to be inserted into the CD drive to validate and let you continue with the installation process. Problem ...
