Have you tried using Bluetooth in Windows Server 2003? I'd love to use 2003 for work, but I don't want to give up my mouse.

If you want to throw more money at the problem, you can try the ST910021A from Seagate. I have an R52 (1849-4WU), and it works for me just fine. No annoying beeps at start up.
