I think Windows shows a noticeable pickup in performance when you go > 512 MB RAM. If you add another PC2-4200 stick, you'll have 1 GB AND it'll operate at dual-channel (throughput to memory doubles). You won't get dual channel if you add a 1 GB stick to your 512 MB stick.... Apologies but I'm a bi...

I use a Trust MI-5300M. It takes two AAA batteries (-use rechargeable!) and has given no problems. Small size is useful for laptop.

The AC adapter is supposed to provide between 15.5V and 17.0V. (Page 42, ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual; July 2005; for ThinkPad T43/T43p (MT 2668/2669/2678/2679/2686/2687) and ThinkPad Dock II (MT 2877)) So a minimum of 15.5V enters the laptop and this then drops to +12.6V, when full...

a) The 'third' wire is a protective device. b) Why does the 'dc 0V' float way from 0V if there is isolation between AC and DC sides -i.e. via (non-auto) transformer when there is no connection to tie the DC 0V to ground? Leakage and cross coupling via stray capacitance. (Try -carefully- connecting A...

Why not just get a 12v dc air/car adapter for the thinkpad, and wire a 12 lighter outlet to the battery. This would seem much safer. This thread is the restart of a deleted thread, where such items were discussed. (Not your fault for not seeing the previous thread.) Two problems with solution sugge...

It could be that your laptop is floating wrt ground and hence may be at 115/230V depending upon where you are. While the current flow is very low, it is a bit un-nerving, as I found with my TV, which seems to be floating at 230V (here in UK) unless grounded by something connected to it. Often a syst...

Make sure that the Mac Aiport is on. Also, ensure T60 wirless is on. If needs be, do a Function +F5 to turn on the wireless. On the T60, look for a control panel called Network Connections and then use Wireless Network Connection in the sub-menu. Use the View Wireless Network button to find the Mac ...

Just a thought: If the T43 is deleting existing fingerprints, then a BIOS setting/change can do this. (As we have the same model, and I have extra 512MB fitted as well, if you want to compare settings let me know.)

The screw is a standard M3 (i.e. 3mm) and length is about 3mm i.e and M3 x 3. Head is Torx, but that is, to my mind, unimportant; slotted or crosshead would be fine.

OK, but my LI cells sit at over 12V for several days. A good point, though, as a car battery will go up to 13.5V at full charge. Perhaps, going back to the regulator, a simple design with a 12V zener to the base of a power transistor, with bleed resistor from collector. Emitter will then be at 11.3V...

I will be interested to see how this topic develops.

I would think a voltage OVER that is simply surface charge, a vast difference than the hundreds of amps that a charged lead acid battery can deliver, because that surface charge will drop quickly in the case of the LI cells. I am unclear as to your point. I have 1W night light connected to a supply...

Hopefully, as an electrical/electronic engineer of many years experience, it will work as long as there are no voltage spikes-but then I wouldn't take my word for it; I may have missed something and I have yet to see the schematic for my laptop!
