I think that is the best idea. I just tried removing the battery and AC and then plugging the AC back in. I did get the lights below the LCD to come on but went off after about 10 seconds.

I replacedd the screen because the screen had gone dark except when on very low power. I did replace the Inverter but that did not work. Thus the new LCD Screen.

Replaced LCD Now No Power

Help! I got courage to replace my LCD on my t42 Thinkpad. It was relatively easy but when I went to turn on the machine I had no power, no lights, nothing. I tried jiggling some wires but no change.

THe LCD is SXGA.

What did I do? How can I fix this? Is there a poewer reset button?

Thanks, I do see a little pink. I wonder how tough it will be to install.

Thank you. I will test the Inverter first since it is a lot cheaper.

T42 LCD goes Dark

Does anyone know an easy way to tell if you have a bad Inverter or a bad LCD Screen? I have read the IBM manual and it tells you to basically take apart the laptop however in some forums I have read that it is just the screen.

Any suggestions?
