Guy, guess what. Another funky pixel just popped up--a red one. At this rate I'll have the requisite 16 in no time.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah, its a sad story, thinking that something is a punctuation when its not. Its actually the truth. Often it will line up above a period and it will look like there is a colon when there is not. Unfortunately lenovo policy is that you must have 16 dead pixels and they...

Troels, Thanks for the reply. The cables are indeed in separate places. The quality difference is mostly indistinguishable to my eyes . . . and these are a discerning pair of eyes. Both of the screens have equally good color saturation and good whites, though they are both sparkly and maybe the t60p...

Maybe IBM Will Replace?
I think its actually not one dead pixel, but a cluster of 4 black pixels. Its like a little square. I see that the lenovo website says you need a minimum of 12 for a replacement. Does anyone think its worthwhile calling and complaining to see if they will replace? If it was really just a single dead...

swap 15" uxga from t42p to t60p?
Guys, I have a t42p with a flawless display and a t60p with a single dead pixel. I mostly use the t60p day to day and the dead pixel just keeps staring at me and taunting me. I'd like to swap out the panels. Is this possible or are the actual panels somehow different? I'm sure the part numbers are d...

Small update for anyone interested and to bump this up. I sent in my thinkpad again and they replaced the bluetooth module. This of course did not do the trick because just a day earlier i had replaced the bluetooth module and that did not solve it. After what must have been multiple phone calls the...

cmarti, thanks for the reply, i did indeed run the software installer and that did not help. notably, the bluetooth module includes the 56k modem which is detected and seems to work just fine. i find this nearly as strange as the fact that when i power up the bluetooth via Fn + F5 that i get a usb d...

BLUETOOTH FN+F5 USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED
Dear All, just got my thinkpad from the repair depot. Had screen, hd, planar card, keyboard and keyboard bezel replaced. Everything is terrific other than the fact that my BT is no longer recognized in device manager. I got a replacement bluetooth module from ibm, swapped it and still the same story...

Gerryn, Thank's for chiming in. I've had too many problems with the screen on this machine. I am incredibly ambivalent about this machine. Its been to atlanta for fixin' at least 4 timtes this year and each time they muck something else up. Regardless, i had the screen replced about 1.5 months ago b...

Battery Life + Screen Noise
Guys, Two questions/issues. 1. I purchased a new extended battery and I can't get more than 4 hours from it on my 2ghz, 7200rpm, 15 flexview--t42p. Processor is stepped down to 600mhz. Fan off via fan utility and graphics device power management set. Drive spins down after like 2 minutes, etc... Any...

sktn, i am pretty sure that it is not the way I am treating the laptop. i am pretty compulsive obsessive when it comes to keeping my things in good shape. I am that kid who never took his comic books out of the plastic because he thought the corners would crease and the value would be reduced. Are t...

Nonny, I, don't stack books on it. When I carry it in my bag, I usually carry a single book in addition to my laptop. The laptop in the padded compartment and the laptop in the adjacent one. Whenever i take of my bag i make sure that the laptop is laying on the book not the other way around. I've go...

its not microfiber, just a thin soft material. i dont know what it is, im not a tailor. Regardless, when i press on back, there is some "flexing" in the spot where the pressure mark is. Keep in mind this is my 3rd lcd on this thinkpad, and my second cover. i'm just so sick and tired of sending it ba...

Thinkpad Addict, I've been told that the pressure marks are caused by pressure to the back of lcd cover, not from the buttons or the trackpad, as those stains are usually removable. Plus, i always put cloth between the keyboard and the lcd. The thing that bothers me is that it is my third lcd and my...

Graphic Device Power Management
Sugo, Thanks for your feedback. I am using the IBM batterymaximizer and graphic device power management function is checkboxed. I don't have any powerplay features installed. I don't understand how with such a low cycle count my battery can be degraded so much and even more so that reconditioning ha...

T42P Woes.... any comments, advice, and fellow rants welcome
Guys, I've had a t42p with 15" 1600x1200 flexview screen for two years and this past year its been nothing but trouble, having been to the center for repair at least 4 times and once to a authorized center. 1. Screen dead video/mobo replaced 2. Screen dead video/mobo replaced and screen replaced due...
