Yup, I haven't load anything new/funny for a long time before the first sign of break down. I've brought it to a IBM service centre, which fortunately is about 5 minutes from where I live. The technician agrees with me that it didn't look like a software problem, however he didn't think its the memo...

I've only got 1 DIMM, but I've run memtest86 for 3+ cycles, and there's not a single error. I've also run the PC-Doctor tests (memory/system board/video) on loop mode (5-10 times), but all test passes just fine. At first I thought about the flexing problem too, but the thing is, it also happens when...

Memory parity error BSOD when resuming from sleep on battery

Hi all, My somewhat new T60 (2007-62U) started to exhibit funny behaviour a few days ago, especially after resuming from sleep when running on battery. It started with some screen corruption (e.g. some icons are displayed in the middle of the screen, randomly appearing bits and pieces of graphics th...

Thinkpad Default power scheme on my T60 sets the 'Max CPU Speed' to 'Adaptive', so yes, this would explain why you see some speedup after installing the hotfix.

You might want to compare the speed after changing max CPU speed to highest on the power manager.

Re: Fix for all Core Duo chips

it noticebly helped my startup time on my X60. It also increased the framerates on Madden 07, which i play. Question: did you set your power manager on 'Maximum CPU speed' setting to 'Adaptive' or 'Highest'? It looks to me from the description of the hotfix on microsoft site that the main problem i...

I don't really know the answer to your question, but if you press ctrl+shift+esc, you get the task manager.

The early reviews of Merom are reporting that it has better battery life than Yonah despite the higher TDP. They are speculating this is because Merom's a faster chip, hence it can finish executing stuff faster and stay in sleep mode longer.

Another vote for T60p. My T60's been running almost constantly since it was delivered a month ago (and I mean 24/7), just as stable as my trusty old Toshiba.

This trick was mentioned sometime ago by someone else here (can't remember the name): press fn+F7 to bring up presentation director, and then press up/dn arrow as needed to bring the pointer to the scheme that you want (of course you need to configure and remember the ordering beforehand.) The last ...

Contrary to most people, I actually find Picassa2 and Google Desktop to be useful (got lots of photos and misc. files on my hdd, imported from previous comps, all the way back to '96). To avoid Picassa from slowing your bootup, just go go msconfig and uncheck the 'Picassa Media Detector' startup ite...

I have the same problem with my T60 too, albeit not very often. I think it may because of this windows bug: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332/en-us.

get a USB external 2.5 inch adapter.. about $25 more or less.. and use it for backups and other data transfer jobs.. forget the 2nd HDD adapoter unless you need a 2nd HDD in the thinkpad.. I've got one of those already, just thinking about the HDD adapter, because they seem more practical than the ...

Please chinese from Lenovo get back with the blue and red strips! You should know that the ThinkPad design team is still located at the Yamato design centre in Japan. Even after the acquisition by Lenovo. I think I'll be a minority here, but I prefer the new 'cleaner' look of T60 compared to, say, ...

Thinkpad T60 (2007-F4G UT0F4UK) - UK model / Windows XP Hi Does anyone know how to stop the Browser Back button from working! It's [censored] irritating because it's all too easy when entering text on a web screen to hit the Browser Back instead of the CURSOR LEFT button which is immediately below ...

Keep in mind that if you plan on putting this 2nd drive in the SlimBay, then you can run either SATA or ATA. It doesn't matter. Same performance either way. The benefit of having a 2nd SATA drive is that you can use it as a spare for the primary drive. Would I need any adapter on the SATA UltraBay ...
