Re: ThinkVantage Client Security Solution Information
I want to know the purpose of: AcpIR.cab ibmtcsd.exe ibmtcsd.exe implements the TSS Core Services Daemon. The core services daemon sits above the TPM Device Driver Library (TDDL) to which it communicates via the TPM Device Driver Library Interface (TDDLI) and talks via the TSS Core Service Interfac...

The majority of this type of problem, in my experience, is caused by an incompatibility with the wireless access point. Checking for updated firmware for the access point is generally helpful. One particular incompatibility is when the access point doesn't properly queue up broadcast packets for the...

Getting them to just "take it back" may be asking a bit much, but if there is a way to accomplish that please let me know who to contact. They probably won't take it back for a full refund, (unless you ask nicely and have an especially helpful rep), but I would think you could get them to take it b...

any suggestions on how to get them to simply replace it rather than repair it? I'm not sure, but if they're willing to take this one as a return (for a refund), then you can just order another one yourself. Also, in answer to your question, the power settings are all on default, as from the factory...

My X60 has the intel card you reference plus bluetooth, which I don't use but which has been left on. There is no Verizon or other WWAN card. I doubt it would make a difference, since most of the bluetooth circuitry sits in the lid of the thinkpad, but you could always try switching off the bluetoo...

Finally someone with a datalogging thermocouple gets some real data. Good work! Your data does confirm what I've been saying all along, which is that the APS sensor reading is really only very loosely correlated with the palmrest temp. Questions: What was the ambient temp in the room while you were ...

Re: Upgrade X60s To 802.11"N" And Add EVDO?
Also, my X60s did not come with EVDO capability, but now I wish I had it. Can I retrofit this, for example are the EVDO card and driver/other software available separately and is it a do-it-yourself sort of install? I've opened up notebooks to replace hard drives, etc, in the past. In my X60s which...

I'm surprised nobody has mentionned Neal Stephenson's "In the beginning was the command line" in this discussion yet:

Re: Does the x60 video card support HW-T&L ?
I am trying to install this game but the requirements stated that it needs a HW-T&L video card the X60 have it? No. It's more efficient with modern CPUs to let the CPU do T&L and leave the graphics hardware to do texturing, pixel shading, etc. http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-011910.htm

Actually, I think it is not a microphone, instead "they" want you to think it is a microphone. I think the main function of those holes is just to reduce the weight of the laptop by 0.0000003 lbs. Just kidding. Of course the holes themselves can't be the actual microphone -- holes don't do much bes...

Its interesting that you now have 14x the VRAM of my X32 and PCI-X for bandwidth for the video display adapter on your X60s (vs. AGP 4x of the X32), yet you only have 50 Hz vertical refresh. :o Wow! I'm surprised! Your X60s (50 Hz) screen refresh rate is *slower* than my X32. On the X32, it is 60 Hz. 60 Hz is the only screen refresh rate the X32 can display... Does anyone know if this is because GMA 950 uses physical memory? When I first got the X60s, it had refresh rate options of 40H...

Currently, if you customize your X60 on the lenovo website, they are offering the x6 ultrabase for $49, as a "holiday deal" which is a lot less than the usual $199.
