Re: RetroThinkPad survey #4 of 4 *** FINAL SURVEY **
3. Lenovo expects certain minimum commitment from the customers before they would want to give a go-ahead to this project. I've seen you mention this before, and I have to say that this seems out of the ordinary. I'm not sure I would commit to a deposit of any kind. It's not like this is a kickstar...

Re: RetroThinkPad survey #4 of 4 *** FINAL SURVEY **
From what Mr. Hill has presented so far regarding the results of the previous surveys, my hopes for getting what I was looking for have sunk very low. Hopefully other people will be happy with whatever this machine ends up being. I'm surprised by the number of folks who seem so disappointed with th...

I've been following these X62 posts with interest, and I would consider going in on a group purchase/shipping deal if these boards turn out to be real. I've been using an X61T (tablet) as my main mobile machine, but I'd consider switching to a regular X61. (I gather that there is no hope/plan for mo...

Re: Bought a Thinkpad 760ED, how to get going?
Mmmm...I see that according to the German thinkwiki.de, the 760CD, 760ED and 760XD all did indeed have an MPEG decoder. I'm not sure how to get that working.I don't remember my 760E having an MPEG decoder, though maybe the 760ED has one?

Re: Bought a Thinkpad 760ED, how to get going?
The PCI Multimedia Device is probably either the MPEG decoder or the video input/output feature.... I don't remember my 760E having an MPEG decoder, though maybe the 760ED has one? You will definitely want to install the video driver and see if that fixes the PCI multimedia device. And some of thes...

Re: 770z drivers source?
That's weird about the missing 770Z link on the Lenovo End of Life support site. Until they fix it, though, you should be able to use the 770X page: https://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/770x.html I don't think that there are any differences in drivers between the 770X and 770Z. Having sai...

Re: update: thinkpad 600 CPU support pentium 266? , not PII 266.
Without doing much research to refresh my memory, I recall that the Thinkpad 600 series CPU upgrades are limited by the max available CPU that was produced in the "MMC-1" form factor. I think that's a PII 400MHz, though those are pretty rare. I have one in an old 770E, which was similar in architect...

Re: How to eject docking station under Win 7?
[....] I always just pull the laptop off the dock and that's it. Well, Your Mileage May Vary! With some of the docking systems, doesn't the physical eject button actually lock up and physically prevent you from undocking, if there are still ongoing processes? I think my X61T and T60p both do that. ...

Re: How to eject docking station under Win 7?
In general, under Win 7 with that generation of Thinkpads, you should be able to use the Undock command from the Start Menu. And if that works then I think you will find you can also use the physical buttons on the dock. But Windows can be quite finnicky about what it thinks is an ongoing connection...

Re: SXGA mod: X61s or X61 tablet?
If you are aiming for an SXGA+ screen on an X61T, then you should be aware that many people ran into issues with the original SXGA+ screens on the X61T series: there were reports of the "glue" running a bit and causing bubbles to appear. Apparently, the glue (or method) they used to bond the digitiz...

Re: WTB: 120GB 7200RPM PATA IDE 2.5inch HDD (for Thinkpad 60
Regarding the 137GB capacity limit, I don't think that should really be an issue. I've seen people report having 160GB drives in the 600X (maybe only with latest BIOS). You probably do need to keep the partition size below 137GB with an older OS though. I have a 160GB drive in one of my 600X machin...

Hi Paul, one way this can happen I think is if you move the mouse after you close the lid or while you are in the midst of closing it, and the mouse is configured to "allow this device to wake up the computer." With Win 7, you can configure this in the Device Manager: find the mouse in question -> P...

Maybe this has nothing to do with the board, but rather the 64MB memory module. [....] Have you tested with a smaller RAM module, or no module at all? Good catch! BTW, I've found 3 SDRAM slots in 770X - is 768mb RAM possible on it? 512MB is the limit on that machine, even if you swapped the "inside" stick, the machine is limited to 512MB and one of the RAM sticks will be hidden or disabled when powered on, so it'll be a waste. Saucey is right on that. Folks ...
