[ Moderator's Note: Moved from X6x forum] Welcome to the forum, netboy! I'm not a battery specialist and so can't say for sure about the best way to deal with your batteries, but I wonder if the conflicting advice you are reading in that Lenovo page has to do with differences between NiMH and LiIon ...

Re: 600X Crashes when jarred or bumped
Hey JoyPC, Interestingly, I was (and probably still am) getting these errors periodically on my upgraded 600X. I never quite tracked it down, and would be curious to find out if a motherboard change makes it go away. I think I wondered if it had to do with overheating - it almost never used to happe...

Re: Need help with Disc Drive for Thinkpad 600E
That's a drag. Sorry to hear the replacement drive is causing you woes. I'm not sure what the issue is either, but bad drive is certainly a good possibility. I've never seen that error message before. Regarding the driver, I don't see where you've indicated your operating system, but in Windows 2000...

Re: 12v (cigarette lighter) battery charger for X60?
Yeah, those are some pretty good prices all right. I think I paid something close to USD $80 (including shipping to Canada) for a "new in box" or "open package" version via eBay when I bought mine. One significant item to note in the context of looking for a cigarette lighter option is that I think ...

Re: 12v (cigarette lighter) battery charger for X60?
For a more expensive option, you could opt to purchase an entire Lenovo 90W Ultraslim AC/DC Combo Adapter kit, which includes a cigarette lighter connection. Probably not what you are looking for, but that would be the "official" Lenovo cigarett lighter option. I don't think you can purchase it sepa...

Re: Need help with Disc Drive for Thinkpad 600E
Very likely, yes those will work. Mmmm...I spoke too soon about these GCC-4246n drives. These are 9mm high instead of 12.5mm high. I'm not sure if the Thinkpad 600 caddy screws will line up correctly on a 9mm high drives. I have always used 12.5mm high drives. Sometimes 12.5mm drives are called 12m...

Re: Need help with Disc Drive for Thinkpad 600E
Very likely, yes those will work. I realize now that I forgot to mention that if you replace the internal drive with something other than an exact duplicate, then you may run into problems using the same front "bezel" piece on the new drive. Drives normally come with their own "front bezel", which c...

Re: X6x vs X6T: Size, weight and carryability?
I use an X60T with an 8-cell battery that I carry around regularly, and I find it to be just slightly heavier and thicker than I would like. I had an X61 tablet with SXGA+ for a couple weeks back in Dec 2007. Even with the small battery, it weighed 3.84 lbs, about a pound heavier than the X61s. It's...

Regarding booting from CD, there were similar reports from some others who ran into problems booting from CD after performing the CPU upgrade: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=13052#p13052 However, my impression was that after applying the BIOS fix to remove the 127 error on boot, most peo...

Re: LCD Problem - 770X
I'll have PIII 500mHz in a few days. Is it difficult to replace it? What I have to unscrew? what to do to not damage anything? Replacing the CPU in a 770 machine is a bit of a chore, and requires disassembling about half or more of the machine. But most of the pieces are large and as long as you wo...

Re: LCD Problem - 770X
Not sure where your issues are coming from. I think that Windows 2000 has practically all the drivers for the 770X built in, so that's why you can't find an alternate driver. I thought that the 1024x768 screens all shipped with 4MB cards, and that you only go the 8MB cards with a 1250x1024 screen? H...

Re: LCD Problem - 770X
Like Unknown_K suggests, it looks like it is displaying the image in "16-bit" colours instead of "32-bit" colour depth. Or possibly the image itself has not been saved with full colour? Or possibly your LCD is actually 1250x1024 and you are scaling the entire desktop without knowing it? Possibly sol...

I'm not really up on all the details on this topic, and what I do know about it actually relate to the 600X rather than the 570. But I think that those two machines are very very similar in construction. I recall seeing a few examples here and there of people attempting to install a MiniPCI wireless...

Re: X60 external display resolution problem
Silly question, I know, but are you sure that whatever you are trying to output to that screen is indeed 1920x1080? If it is a video, then there are lots of variations of widescreen video sizes that will leave bars across the top and bottom. Are the bars across the top and bottom or around the entir...

Re: Are these new 600 batteries any good?
One question: What is this "bad memory problem" you are referring to? Are you saying the original O.E.M. Thinkpad 600 batteries had performance issues and would die prematurely? I think I remember reading something about that somewhere, but I don't recall the specifics. Yes, there were issues with ...

Re: 600x ultrabay battery question.
You can still do this... just don't put the Ultrabay battery in until you want to swap the main one. See this: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_use_Ultrabay_batteries I think it is probably still worth checking whether this procedure actually works on an actual 600X machine, running Windows sof...

Re: 600x ultrabay battery question.
Can only answer a couple of your questions. I'm not at my 600X right now to double check, but I'm pretty sure that when you have the Ultrabay battery installed, the unit draws power from the Ultrabay first, and it will fully drain that battery, and then it will automatically switch over to the main ...

Hey That's great, Mike. Congrats on getting it working (if only briefly!). Re: tp600x in win7!
There continues to be some slight disagreement about what exactly is required to get SpeedStep to work on a 600X, but I would guess that in your case it is related to one or more of the following: - you are not plugged into an AC adapter - your motherboard may not support SpeedStep, even if everythi...

The current list of recommended files for the X60 is availlable here: Drivers and software - ThinkPad X60, X60s Not sure why you are getting that error. But I wonder if maybe you need .Net Framework version 3.x, and that when they say "or later", they don't mean as late as 4, but only 3.0-3.5 or so....

For what it's worth, on my X60 Tablet, I was able to install and charge two non-Lenovo clone batteries (though they each lasted only for a month or two before dying or becoming unusable). Re: 770 Mpeg decoder
It has to be MPEG-2, I believe (like a DVD). But it shouldn't matter whether it's a DVD or file on your drive. You have to use specific software. MediaMatics DVDExpress is the most commonly used, but you may have to use a specific version of it. The version of DVDExpress that shipped with some IBM D...
