I've gotta brag about the 3 Thinkpads I bout about 3 weeks ago. The two in my sig + a T21 which has the CRC1 problem and which I'll probably sell or use parts from. They were outcasts from a large company, bought 'em all for 40USD :D The T23 had a loose inductor, which I fixed thanks to this forum, ...

Btw: concerning the anti-virus: I used to have Symantec products also but they really were major system hogs. Especially once you get all the progs you need for work installed etc. you can really feel that Symantec is using too much resources. Personally, I would recommend NOD32 antivirus. The prog ...

Keeping a system clean is very important. This isn't really a necessity for you at the moment (since your system is pretty much clean after a new install), but I use CleanUp! on all my PCs and Ntbs about twice a month. Gets rid of all the ugly stuff especially temp files, internet temp files etc. Be...

I hope yall had a nice Xmas! So, like I wrote in the last message, it looks like the T20 has the pow...

Seems it has a regular 56k modem + 10/100 ethernet. No prob though.
Is 2.5-3 hours a good operational time for older batteries?

T23 up and running.
Also found out it's not a 750 but a PIII M 1133.

New question regarding this thinkpad: There's a card in it next to the modem with a FRU 26p8181.
Is this a Wifi card?
I've downloaded all driver updates but it looks like a regular ethernet card.

Thanks for your reply rkawakami. I don't have a battery since it died a few years back and then I lost it. Yes, it does stay on after pressing for about 10 seconds. No problems at all after that. Sometimes it powers on without pressing. Usually I get a long beep short beep though. (haven't checked t...

TP 600X special power-on

I have a 600X that has this weird problem. To start it up, I have to press on the IBM Thinkpad logo that's right above the keyboard and then use the power button. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I used to tell poeple that it has a fingerprint reader :D I've had it taken apart a few times, ...

Kaervak is correct on the T23 issue. As for the T20, it will need a replacement systemboard. There is another way around it that would require skillful soldering and replacing the EEPROM, but as per forum rules, we cannot discuss that here. Thanks guys, I got the T23 working. One of the inductors w...

T23 last breaths?

Hi all. Nice forum! I got a few very cheap TPs today so I have a few questions: 1. TP T23 PIII 750, 256MB RAM, 12G HDD - when I turn this one on the green leads light up and all that happens after that is the fan going "fast, slow, fast, slow...". I don't hear the HDD start up, though I know it's OK...
