Hi fifshy, the problem lies in the fact that many users don't bother running benchmark tests and CPU speed monitoring software when they get their X60. I am experiencing the same problem and have reported it to IBM Support, to no avail. Take a look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.ph...
If you want to play Doom3, you can forget about it. The onboard GMA is not good for any of these games. Most will refuse to install if they detect an onboard graphics solution.
Ok, so sometimes I type really fast and accidentally press 3 keys together, which triggers the BIOS beep tone. It's especially loud, even when the volume is set to 1 notch. It's even louder when I have an amplified speaker connected to my X60. The volume of the beep tone doesn't match that reflected...
Hmm.. I see. I already have the latest version, and after resuming using a battery (when it was hibernated with AC), the CPU speed is stuck at max speed. Toggling the different power management profiles does not bring it back down to slower speeds as what SpeedStep should do. Is this an issue? Or sh...
Just a question here: When you hibernate without a battery in place, and then resume from hibernation with a battery in place, is power manager supposed to display that black plug icon to indicate you're running on AC/battery?
Mine does, even though I've got the latest BIOS (v2.07).
From my own experience, I know of Fujitsu and Acer to not have any resources on those, except for the usual changing of battery, installing of memory modules information.
Sorry about the statement made above. I should've been more specific. By "disassemble", I meant to refer to even stripping down the laptop to every last part, even parts like the LCD screen and the CPU and fan assembly. There's not a lot of vendors around who provide that kind of information, or are...
As far as I know, IBM/Lenovo is the only laptop company that offers manuals that teach you how to disassemble your Thinkpad (Hardware Maintenance Manuals). You won't go wrong if you read it carefully again and again before doing any stripping of the parts. eBay panels are mostly refurbished, with a ...
I'm referring to the PC-5300 sticks. Apologies for the wrong information up there. I did a quick search again and found that the sticks from Corsair are rated at CL5, according to various online retailers.
I could've sworn I seen them from somewhere saying they were CL4...
The trouble all seemed to begin when the L-company took over. I purchased my X60 a while ago, and a patch appeared a couple of months later on my screen. It refused to be cleaned away with a lint-free cloth and some isopropyl alcohol and distilled water in a 50-50 mixture (like they recommend in the...
