I connected my x60s to a Samsung 40" 4095DX HDTV via VGA port. The system automatically switched to 1920x1080 wide screen mode. Very impressive! The video performance felt sluggish though. However, I am happy with this monsterous resolution from this small laptop.

I just had the same poblem yesterday. At first I ran Rescue & Restore from the hidden partition (pressed the ThinkVantage button when I turned on the laptop) but it couldn't see the harddisk. Finally what I did was boot up with the windows setup cd and go to recovery console and from there run 'chkd...

I usually take the battery out while on AC. However, there are 3 disadvantages; 1) if power is out, the X60 turns off. 2) the bottom of x60 is exposed. not sure if it's vulnerable to dust and rust. 3) x60 does not have rubber leg on the bottom right! It's on the battery itself which means that witho...

This is an interesting question. I have a plan to do so too. I suppose you need to buy a harddisk adapter so that u can put the old one into the ultrabay.

I have had a problem with T&L feature of the Age of Empires III game. My X60's Intel 950 does not support it and the performance of the sea battle was horrible. I didn't expect a strategy game to require advanced video feature that my 1-month old X60 does not have. :(

Please post your real world battery life for x60

Mine is 4:30 hours with wireless on, 6 or 7 (max) brightness, light web surfing, word processing and a background p2p. My battery is 8-cell extended battery. Its spec life is up to 7.8 hours.

Please share yours.

I use a small free utility, SpeedswitchXP (google for URL). It has a tray icon that you can choose which power scheme you want to use. Very easy to change from max battery, max performance, dynamic switching or battery optimized. Hope this help.

I don't have this problem. The X60 firmly snapped into the base. I guess your problem occurs when it's not fully snapped so that the power couldn't get through the unit.

65W or 90W extra power adapter?

I bought an x60 with x6 ultrabase. Now I want to buy a spare power adapter. The x60 options in tabook.pdf said there are 2 power adpaters; 65w and 90w. Is there any case where I should buy the 90w?

The current 65w that came with my x60 works well with my system.

Different flash memory devices have different speeds. There is a considerable difference in speeds. Check the specs. I guess the bottleneck is also at the bus controller. An update. I got the SD card this evening. After a few tries, the x60 builtin card reader shows double transfer rate (2 MB/sec) compared to CF PCMICA adapter card. But it's still very slow (15x slower) then the internal harddisk. So it cannot be used for any performance improvement. :(

I should have asked this question *before* I bought the pcmcia adapter. This one sucks, it takes 100% cpu while slowly transferring files. (Luckily it took 100% of one core, I still had another core to do other things. In my previous T41, I couldn't do anything while copying photos.) I tested the CF...

rexy, what was your original ram? Did you put 1x2GB ram, not 2x1GB ram right? May I ask where you bought the ram from?

I am going to buy an extra 1GB ram for my 512MB X60. However, I heard that I should install the same amount of ram in pair. So I am wondering if 1GB will work with 512MB system.

SD card as a windows swap drive?

Since X4x/X60 have an SD card slot, can we use an SD card, say 512MB or 1GB as a windows swap drive instead of harddisk? Does anybody try it before? Will it speed up Windows?

I came from T-series (T20 and T41) and took the plunge to order my 1st X60 (1706-8DU) yesterday (3/23/2006). The expected shipment is 4/20/2006. I'll wait and see.

Does anybody switch from T to X series? Are you happy with the smaller form factor?
