Software installer no longer offers some older updates ?
Last week I noticed there were some software updates for my R51, in particular new ATI video driver or WinDVD player update. I didn't downalod them that time. Today I run the installer again but these two updates were no longer listed. It is normal ? I have version 3.12.0506

XP SP2 error in svchost.exe during shutdown
Anyone has encountered an error in SVCHOST.EXE during shutdown which is reported lately on next startup ? It happens from time to time since february when I updated IBM APS software. It also seems to be related to Microsoft KB873333 update http://forum.iamnotageek.com/history/topic.php/1819062255-1....

New R52 models - no longer FlexView displays ?
I've noticed there are no R52 models with 15" SXGA+ FlexView displays listed on IBM site. There was at least one R51 model with such display recently.

R51 - is the gap between keyboard and display safe ?
I'm wondering whether the gap between the keyboard and display is safe to protect potential damage of the LCD surface by keyboard buttons when carrying the laptop ? Some materials says you should put something in between while others says it can make it even worse ;-)

How to stop flashing of Bluetooth LED indicator on R51
Is there any way to stop flashing of the Bluetooth LED indicator under the display when communication is active ? It is extremly annoying when using wireless mouse.
Thanks.
Thanks.

More on this issue. I restored registry hive file from backup I've made after fresh reinstall and the WAM registry keys were there as well. So it looks like it is part of IBM preinstall. But the driver name still does not make me feeling "safe" because it reminds a stealth virus/spyware loader. I do...

I did complete reinstall and the seems to be there again. Anyway, could someone else please confirm that you have the key in your registry as well. I'm getting little bit nervous ;-) It seems to be related to Rapid Restore Ultra 4.0 but who knows ... The key is located in the registry at following l...

WAM.SYS (LEGACY_WAM) - is it spyware or unused IBM driver ?
I found strange driver and related service in my registry with description "Wicked Access by Mark". It looks like a spyware at first glance. Google didn't help much except one posting which has additional information from the registry where imagepath to the (non-existing) WAM service was: \??\C:\Pro...

Backup with a Bootable IBM Rapid Restore Ultra 4.0 ?

Occasional "hit" sound from the HDD
I'm experiencing a short "hit" sound (like if a metal part crashed into another one) from the HDD in my R51. The sound is very noisy comparing to normal hdd noise. It happens few times during the day, most of the time when the hdd is idle. PC Doctor does not report any issues. Is that normal ?
