Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Perhaps you guys would be happier if it were called an Ideapad instead of Thinkpad? Nope. The name is irrelevant. The X1c is so very close to what I await since the disappointment that my T60p was bulkier and heavier than the T42p of my colleagues. All the more I am upset why (oh why on earth) they...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Based on how often Lenovo release new Thinkpads, can anybody speculate as to when the X1 Carbon replacement will be released? Summer 2013? Cheers! Expect some rumors around the new Intel processors, then long silence, finally an official presentation, two more months of silence, then the launch, fi...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

How would you rate the noise level generated from the X1 Carbon keys? When I compare the X220 (which is a year old and keys have already gotten a bit louder) and the X1c, the latter is less 'clicky', if you don't hammer on the keys. Actually, the firm integration of the keyboard in the X1c body mak...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Yeah, it's pre-release hardware. :D WOW  Not that I looked so close into the shots and tried to identify stickers, the list you provide is awesome. Thanks for the detailed response. That'll drive me to have a second look next time, so much to miss during the wait until the release. cheers Hecke

Thanks for the info, ThinkRob.
Great that you joined the other thread.

Can you enlighten me which aspects are typical for pre-production units?

thanks

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Tsk, tsk... somebody's posting non-final hardware shots... :D @ThinkRob: In a thread on the X1c at notebookreview we are discussing how reliable the info of the russian review is, and I was referring to your post here. Now I was asked, whether you have any insider info, or if your post was just an ...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Sad to see that ASUS seems to have no problems in providing IPS panels of all sizes...
Looks like Lenovo is missing a trend here.
I still hope that it's not the case.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

There appeared some presentation about the X-lineup, which says something about the IPS panels and the X1 carbon:

unfortunately, the slides are greatly inconsistent, so we cannot rely on anything in it...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Hey, they addressed nearly every point on my wishlist, 1080p and IPS would have been nice, but I do not want to complain, one thing at a time;-) Does anyone know, whether it will be all-rubber like the original X1? The Engadget pics looked like non-rubber plastic, which would be a downside... As i h...

Re: X220 w i7 gets REALLY hot, anyone else?

Hi Erik, i got the CD running. It was the common admin voodoo, I usually encounter the other way round: When my colleague agreed to take a look and sat down, the CD was nicely recognized and booted fine. Now I have the new BIOS and can start tweaking it. Thanks for the CPU power management hint. Wil...

Re: X220 w i7 gets REALLY hot, anyone else?

Hi guys, sorry to interrupt your debate. First, thanks for the additional hints. Then my status: - Actually, the air vented by the fan is very hot and the back left corner of the machine is no longer comfortable on my legs, so i guess that heat transport from the CPU is going well. - I tried a BIOS ...

Re: X220 w i7 gets REALLY hot, anyone else?

Hi Bill, a BIOS update is definitely worth a look. Thanks for the hint! Is there a way to have the BIOS tweaks for the enhanced experience with it? When I look at the time it takes for the bootloader to show up, it seems like I got a very generic BIOs with my X220 (which was shipped without OS). bes...

X220 w i7 gets REALLY hot, anyone else?

Hi all, since several months my X220 gets really hot. What most annoys me is the fan trying to cool the machine running at full speed. This behavior does not require a fully loaded CPU, listening to music and browsing the web are sufficient. The fan runs not only when the machine is placed on the is...

Hi Troels, did you try a dual-head configuration? My system should be fairly identical to yours (T60p, Suse10.3, fglrx 40.4), the driver works fine, with 3D acceleration. But when trying a xinerama configuration through sax, it just gives me a mirrored desktop on the second screen (same contents, sa...
