sailor, You may want to check something ....very simple to miss. Look at your MAC Filter portion of your Router info. The enable should be checked....yes that is probably ok. But, then look further. Sometimes their are two choices. ..Deny access to these MAC IDs. ..Enable access by these MAC IDs. Ma...

sailor, I was just suggesting a debugging sequence with WEP. On my PC, I have BT3 penetration software running via vmware .... so I know the hazards of WEP. What if you use everything but MAC filtering? Use WPA-PSK/AES and invisible SSID etc....everything except MAC filtering? Based on your descript...

On my new T61p, I also had funny results with the wifi. Had disconnects under WPA-PSK and finally switched to WEP with MAC filtering with no problem. Have you tried to reset the router? Then just add your new T6X with no security. Then add WEP. Then add MAC filter for just your PC? Etc. On some rout...

If you have XP, the Turbo Memory will not be working.

If you have Vista, you probably won't be able to tell if it is working but you can tell if it is installed. Check your device manager under hard drive for the Turbo line item.

tyler, Yes, but I think most folks are not at the tweaking level of Pc user capability to optimize Vista.....so, shouldn't be submitted to the painful process. Maybe wait for Windows 7. But, I agree with everything you said. I find many Linux Distros to be great. I have used many including BackTrack...

dikrek, It shouldn't crash with Bioshock or Crysis. HalfLife is an easier test compared to Bioshock and Crysis. Do you have the dual RAM memory? With Bioshock or Crysis, did you try pulling out one of the RAM sticks? For those with T61p PCs, a good PC should make it thru both Bioshock and Crysis. By...

Yes, my solution and problem was similar to mdblanton. I have a new T61p with the IPW4965. I had disconnects using WPA-PSK/AES encryption. I switched to WEP and had no further problems. For some reason, the IPW4965 had difficulty handling the WPA security. For further security, I incorporated MAC fi...

Florian,

I was reading back thru your posts. Did you ever run 3DMark06 on your PC? Did it run? Can you post your score?

It is a free download for 3DMark06 and is a good starting standard for the GPU.

Hi, It seems hit or miss to even get the fan to register 4400 rpms when I plug in 64 for manual. Most of the time, the fan does not increase above 3300. So, I think either the fan is off or I need lessons on tpfc. But, I will try the max core temp / mem option and see what happens. Last time I tried...

I ran at 500/800 overclock and get a 4665 3dMark06 score. But, above that overclock level, the PC freezes. So, the fan is running a li...

Reporting back.

No 3DMark06 score difference between:

...169.04
...169.13
...169.21

Has anybody on the forum gotten higher 3DMark06 scores (keeping every thing else constant) by changing their driver?

No fan control. No Overclocking.

toby, I bet if you turn off your tpfc, you will get the same 3dmark06 score. Try that for interest sake. Without any level of overclocking, you are not pushing the GPU .... thus, you don't need higher fan speeds. On ATITools, you have to play with it. Try to read the READ.TXT file that comes with it...

YinLe,

Chances are good you are ok. Maybe do one more thing...

Download the free Bioshock Demo. Run it on your PC. If no freeze up or crash....you are good to go.

The Demos are tougher tests than the 3DMark06.
